Hope everybody who's thinking of running Vintage class in memphis is getting their cars ready! We've already heard from a number of people who are interested in having fun with their old TA01/TA02/FF01 cars and entrants should be receiving an e-mail shortly with the latest rules. It's all about the fun!

Default TCS pics from Seattle Indoor Raceway

Hey folks, I promised the guys from Seattle that I'd get these up this week. I got some great shots of the racing last weekend! Especially of people going airborne! Heh heh.

The racing in all classes was really close and everyone had a great time. There were some awesome battles going on and quite a few spectacular crashes too! Thanks to all the guys at SIR that made this such a great weekend!

At the end of the day all the A main winners had a race with these little Tamiya buggies. They were really hard to focus on...

Concourse winners:

A nice racing sample (GT2):

I'm just going to stick a link here for the rest as there are quite a few and I know not everyone has high speed net.

Enjoy!

Vintage class (TA01-TA02-FF01) rules came via e-mail from Tamiya last night. Just like CA, and being held as a regular class (not exhibition). Should be a blast!!!!

Interesting.... Does that imply that Tamiya will be a part of this co-op?

I believe the idea is sound, but the missing part of these ventures is a consistent revenue stream to pay the rent long term. I have seen too many tracks open with a lot of excitement only to be shut down after a few months or years after the owner has cleared his bank account. The best bet for a long term co-op would be on a public piece of land providing a permanent venue rent free. The co-op provides the $ for the initial setup and on going maintenance. Some type of rotating track marshals arrangement will be required so people like me don't try to set a lap record with my 1:1 scale. It is is a win-win-win situation for the city, manufacturers, and the hobbyist.

yea, i got my email today... all i have is a couple FF01s, tho. you gonna run it, Doc? which chassis? i have no clue on those things. plus, if i run it, which other class will i not run? might be relatively stress free only running Mini and Vintage, i think...

any ideas on tires for the FF01 on asphalt?

That's too bad. I was hoping of adding a 3rd class.
It only makes my race prep that much easier.

Yep, I'm going to run an FF01 Golf- bought it just for this NIB & pretty much got it built last night.

I agree. Big Mini and Little Mini Although F103GT was pretty stress free as well- just top off the battery and go back out

any ideas on tires for the FF01 on asphalt?
Only vague ones. I haven't used those 26mm tires in almost ten years, so am taking a guess with four of them and seeing what will happen. With a black can, though, I suspect it would be hard to go wrong. Gary says they have pretty much all of the 26mm tires in stock.

OC Raceway is not a co-op racetrack. It is privately owned by Robert Black.

Tamiya has no affiliation with the offroad track.

Beats me, you're more of a VW guy than I am. But the manual has a copyright date of 1998. I had intended to run the kit body because it's pretty much the only vintage type body I've got. Kit came from eBay, shipped over from Japan.

If you have any ideas, let me know NOW because it hasn't been painted yet...but I need to test this weekend.
