It will effect up in coming races, possibly if we only are transporting NiMH? TSA can be manic about certain rules , which is understandable.

I think Doc M. will be the 1st guinnea pig, don't think it will effect the Hickman Hauler

Happy New Year to all

Funny, last year I was transporting my NiMH and Lipo cells in my carry-on luggage and my local TSA agents encouraged me to pack them in my checked luggage for my return flight. I don't mind following rules and regulations, I just wish they were consistant across all airports. Or maybe they just like to keep the bad guys guessing???

I wonder if FedEx Ground may be a safer bet for Trackside???

Anyone with a TA05 w/GTB brushless care to post a few pics showing how you mounted the ESC and routed the wires? It's a tight fit, but I don't really like the way I have mine set up right now. That darn power cap is a nightmare!

No picts since I sold it off, but a GTB and TA05 aren't the perfect match. The GTB can fit behind the motor with a pressed fit (maybe some slight shaving) and the power cap was servo taped into the rear left brace. had to stack/shape a few layers of servo tape to mold a holding place for the cap. Was always suspicious of it holding throughout the banging of a race but it did ok.

I was planning on it yesterday but too many family issues came up.
Weekends have never been good for me to race but I'm working on it!

See you soon Kevin!

Well, perhaps. But I'll certainly get an opinion in writing from the TSA before leaving for Milwaukee in February. Problem is consistentcy...years ago I almost missed a flight because the TSA at one airport didn't want me to fly with my Turbo 35. Go figure.

Worst case is I'll just ship the batts with the other stuff I always ship because they don't want me to fly with it...

That's the combo I've run for 2 years. It fits fine. I think I have a pic of it somewhere. I run the wires towards the center of the car. Ahhh...here's a pic.

And here's another pic that shows the cap now mounted on top of the GTB with servo tape. After running the 10.5 and 13.5 for 6 months, I removed the ESC fan as it has never gotten hotter than 110f. I've run it that way for well over a year inside and outside...not 1 problem.

Tamiya track is still open for practice on Saturdays. Opens between 9:00 - 10:00 AM.

Read the airline rules on lipos closely. They talk about "loose" lipo's and making contact. With enclosed case lipos and if you pack them in a battery case or some type to keep them seperated they should be okay.

That's great for thee and me because we can read and we use our intellect. Try to explain the difference between Nimh and LiPo to an overworked and underpaid TSA inspector while 300 people are waiting in line to go through security. Been there, not fun.
