it was nice to see several bodystyles in the Mini A... lots of Swifts, but still quite a few old skoolers in the mix, along with the big win! any strategy to the choices, or just what they liked the look of the best?
i had loads o' fun in the Tam-tech Porsche-Ferrari Cup racing... my car really drove well, without any prior running before getting the Cali on thursday.
my motor started out good in practice too , but faded as the weekend went on, and i forgot to get another before the sales dept closed sat. I hope this class will take off, and be a regular!
too bad i didnt fare as well with my GT1 car... ah well.
congrats to all the winners!!! good luck in Japan!

the short car is probably the most agressive. the long car is really stable and put the power down really well. and the medium car i think medium car seems the be like the short car but more forgiving as far as setup.

...and now we enter that long, dark period after the Nats when people turn their attention to other events. Along about November 1, we'll start to get into bit%%in' about the 2008 schedule, and then a little news about Japan, but until January...silence

The only one I know I saw on track was Tony Tam's and his looked phenominal! I was floored when I heard he went back to his regular car as good as his IFS looked. I seem to remember telling someone I thought he was a shoe in to win and that next year the majority of cars would be the IFS. Now Steve Hickman had one there and said it was like a second a lap slower than his TB-02 that he made the A with. What I noticed about the IFS was that it just seemed to finish the corners better. Definately something to test for next year.

I know for next year I would hope to have a 2nd TA05, maybe I should get an IFS, although it might be tough throwing my TB02 in the fray as well...
may the best car win...

Fred told me today that i'm going to be runnig mini at the worlds. I was not expecting this at all. I have also never run on carpet before. I was wondering if some of the mini guys who have run on carpet before could give me some insight on what car to run; rear wheel drive v.front wheel drive. I also dont know what kind of tires to use or if i have to use any strange stratagies like sidewall-gluing. If you guys could give me some advise it would be greatly appreciated.
I would think that with traction being at a minimum you may wish to run M03M - just a bet more stable the short chassis.
If they have a long straight (over 100'), and generally an open layout, and you get to run a 21 tooth pinion, I'd be real tempted to also bring the M-04 with you. While the M-04 is a real handful on asphalt, we have had good success with it on carpet - until nathan got his swift, the miata was his favorite mini. The only real drawback to the m-04m on carpet can be on the start on the tone - you can't just stomp on it when the tone goes off or you'll end up kicking the rear around and going left into the wall. Once you're rolling, however, it can really go. Matt & Steve Key have been runing m-04m's at trackside for quite a while as well and may have some tips for you.
If you decide you want to try the m-04m on carpet, I can get you a set up on that as well.
But if I were you, I'd plan on joining us here in Milwaukee for the Mini Mayhem race October 6-7. Lots of track time to try things out, and it should be some real close competition.

I probably should have put more time into the IFS, but my TBO2 did qualify 6th in the A main and I finished 7th overall in GT2. "Not Bad for a Old Man that can't see very well??

You Lucky Dog - getting to run mini rather than having to go to a sedan. I sent you my setup for M-03M.
