Congrats to Dave and Nathan Weir for their 2nd and 3rd place finish in Mini.
Anyone know if there has ever been a father & son team that has finished on the podium at the TCS National?
Doc, thanks for the camaraderie at the track. I alway enjoy our intellecutal conversations
And, thanks to Dave and Nathan for their help at the track and hauling my sorry butt around all weekend.

This was definately bittersweet... While I wish to share the optimism that we may be racing on this track again next year the reality is more than likely that we have all turned our last laps on that track in a North American Finals setting. Yes the series will go on, I just fear that without this as the "Holy Grail" we may see attendance decline. No offence to the SoCal bunch as you're all awesome competitors but I fear that the attendance at the Nats will decline just because the TTLocals don't really travel to other venues to race. The majority of racers at the Nats live within 100-miles with a minorty of us who fly in. While I am sure that SIR or Trackside or some unknown track would do a wonderful job of hosting the Nats, the turnout is not going to be the same. I'm not trying to be a downer here, just looking at reality...
On a brighter note, Fred, Doug, Tom, Larry, and Gary all did an awesome job running the race. It just made leaving for the last time all that much harder this weekend. On a sentimental note I know I have called the Nats a Family Runion of sorts, even if it was a disfunctional one. Those of us who have come for years and years (because we're not good enough to win but dillusional enough to keep trying
J/K) have come together on many different levels, been there for each other, cheered each other on during the good times, picked each other up during the struggling times, loaned out tools, parts, bodies, tires, and, and, and....well you get the point. Beyond all the people who put this series on I want to thank all the racers for being there and supporting something that has meant so much to so many. I think that's the biggest thing to remember is that the cars are just things, and things can be replaced. It's the personal relationships that were formed and carried on over the years that really mean the most. Without guys like Dan Garber, Doc Mertes, Marty Hageman, Troy Crabtree, Tom Kahl, Jeff Stephens, Brad Palmer, Fred Forg, Kevin Nino, Juan Avetya, Ling-Kang Tong, Mike Steele, Craig Richter, Devon White, Tony Tam, Chris Lim, Steve Hickman, Izzy Suarez, John Christensen, Mike Lack, Chen Hwa-Chien, Steve Key, Dave and Nathan Weir, Bill Doty, Dave Beale, Lee and Don Passehl, Dan Pozel, and many, many more over the years the Tamiya Championship Series wouldn't mean nearly as much. It's about the people damnit!

haha... there are many things in the world that can or cannot happen due to unforeseen circumstances. (Such as a comet screaming straight towards Earth right now!) So yes, I can believe it .... or NOT.
It was fun meeting everyone but definitely tiring. We used to run the TCS Nationals with 10 people (4 people in tech alone), now we only have 3 people total. I did my best to remember everyone's name as they came through the tech area. Thanks to Alex and Tom Kahl helping out in post tech, Doug Papka for announcing, and the entire SIR crew for cleaning up and stacking up all the chairs on that side of the pits.
I have too many pictures to share but feel free to check them out on the web when they are finished uploading (hopefully by tomorrow).
Concourse winners: please email me for hi-res pictures of your vehicle
Sirswiftalot aka Brandon: 3rd pic is for you, as promised.

How come nobody is talking about the most important race... Past Chumps! What happened, who won? pictures...

Not to get off topic for too long since I am still ecstatic about the race this weekend, but what is a good pre-mounted tire set for the Tamiya track? Now that the TCS season is over, I am looking for a good practice tire for Saturdays!
Congrats again to all the guys who won, and I am excited to see how Worlds treats the US guys.
Hey Troy, I think Jose wants that wing back too. Had ne known you were going to run so well with it, I don't think he would have just handed it to you.
Speaking of Jose, Chris did you see that Red and Black Skyline with the smashed in nose coming up on you the final laps of GT2 B-main? You car seemed to slow down a bit, but you held on. Had I not had my power go out over night on Saturday, I might have made my qual heat and been able to mix it up with you guys.
Here's hoping that somehow we can race TCS Regionals and Nationals at Aliso next year!!!!!!!!!

Hibler just the usual hacking and everyone talking Smack. Jimmy and Dave ruled the show for the most part. Corey Whiteman from Canada was third 4th Martin and I forget the rest. You should have come out with Pops just to hang for the weekend. It was good to see some faces that had not been around in years. There was even a Berger sighting......
What are you running 1:1?
