Rules update:

"Spec Sport Tuned motor rules: New for 2007
In order to limit the amount of creativity in the GT-2 and Mini classes in regards to motors we will be imposing the flowing rule: The Tamiya Sport Tuned motor will be spot checked for AMP DRAW and RPM. The motors will be tested at 2 Volts for amp draw and any motor exceeding 2.3 amps (same as last year!) will be deemed suspect. The next test will be RPM. RPM will be tested at 5 volts and motors exceeding 18,000 RPM will be deemed illegal. Racers having motors that draw this kind of amperage and RPM will have their qualifying round or main race disqualified.
We understand the motors can be broken in to get better performance. This rule is intended to limit the on the edge or over the line creativity to better equal the playing field. Be careful!!!!! "

But the spec battery is now up in the air......

"Note: The previously announced battery has changed due to availability. The exact battery will be announced in the coming week."

I do not care what we use as long as it is a SPEC battery bought at the track. I do not want to get caught at the last minute needing to BYOB and not having new cells.

I am glad they changed that rule. I tested 4 motors from last year 3 were old nats motors. I ran them without oil and with. Two with oil were over 1.5. Actually one was about 2.00 although without oil it was 2.5. So the moral of the story keep em oiled although the oil probably dried out from sitting for about 5 months.

WoW post number 1,000... happy happy joy joy

Thumbs up You guys have a huge mini following down there

John, since you were TQ last year, am curious as to what kind of amp draw numbers they got from your motor. A lot of us are seeing well over 1.5 amps once they have a run or two on them. Did Fred bump up the amp draw threshold after checking some of the top three guys?
I looked at the past results through out the season and I see Doc Mertes has run the most out of everyone. I also see that Mickey Cohen, Brandon Koslosky and Devon White have been in the top of the field are those the guys to watch for during nationals. Hope to see you guys next year for TCS depending on were the hold the Nats. maybe Utah lol.
Thanks

Marty, do you know if the F103GT's will get a handout silver can?
Didn't see anything in the rules about that.

Entry for F103GT and GT1 confirmed, thanks Fred and Gary.

Fred told me "run what ya brung" for silver can as long as it is one of the sacred four types.

I am a bit surprized, but maybe not, as Fred told me F103GT was NOT going to be a second class due to number of heats consideration. As we all know though, rules are most definatly subject to change. As far as I am concerned, the more the merrier in F103GT. Welcome aboard.

If you had to choose, between the classes, GT-1 or F103GT?????

BTW, I agree with your tag "Stock is a class, not an ability level" Let's here it for the difficulty of true "stock" racing!

I would choose F103GT

See Ya there.

Now if I can just get one of Troy's motors.
