Thanks bradley.....
It's tough to keep a low profile with you and billy and your relentless banter... sometimes you crack me up too, usually on the track...

I went back to look and I marked exactly what the guy with the motor checker told me on the can for reference. My best of the 2 motors I received pulled 1.8 amps.Kind of scary to see a 1.5 amp motor limit if these motors after a slight motor breakin is already pulling the 1.5amps.

Thanks John.

I have 10 brand new black cans on the shelf I will be testing for out of the box performance.I will use the Orion motor checker to see what is what.It would be nice to know what method or machine they plan to use as a way to check. It will make a difference.

check your break in period. last year one of my motors broke in within minutes (really soft brushes). call me later. we can chat.

my thing is if you barely break in the brushes and then your motor fully breaks in on a run and it pulls more amps then previously noted, your disqualified? I know Tamiya probably{hopefully} has a basis for the 1.5 amp draw limit,Ahhhhh nevermind.I will figure it out.Anyone been able to source some GP2400 nicads yet?

good point. i dont remember my motors pulling that high last year. im assuming after i ran them in the mains, they finally got seated..and now drawing more amps.

Taken directly from the tamiyausa website under 2007 rules-

"GT-2 and Mini
The GT-2 and Mini classes will be using both a Spec Motor (Tamiya black Sport tuned motor item 53068) and a Spec battery (Tamiya branded GP 2400 ZAPPED NICD assembled Stick pack). These are the same batteries that will be used for the Tamiya World Championships!"

Yes, the 2400 are most likely the NiCd Sanyo ones used in Japan with the blue foil Tamiya label and comes in the Blue box. I might still have a couple at home from the Worlds in 2004; but I know Izzy bought two of those to test last year. I have never seen GP2400 batts... I'm sure that's a typo.
