We gotta get this class off the ground, turnout thus far has been thin, although it makes me question where all the parts went when the Courage first came out.:confu sed:

Brad, I think the car has been too much of a challenge for most people to drive. Just about every TCS I attended there were more F103GT's out there, but the racers pulled their entries and ran something else. And I'll admit that after the Memphis "Slip and Slide" I didn't even try to run it at Laurel.

I think the F103GT's would be a blast at the Aliso track, but I'm focusing on Mini at this year's Nats.

I agree completely, but the 103 F1 cars were never easy either , and at one point in time F1 was the biggest and most competitive class in the TCS. Do I dare say that the lack of body choices has severely knocked the wind out of the sails of this class?
Although I have not made a decision completely, I am thinking that 103GT will be the more cost effective class, that is if there are enough entries to run it. I hope we have an idea if it will run soon, I would hate to show up on Tuesday and find out I have to run GT2 and not have anything to do so.

I think the lack of body choices has an efffect. I also believe that if you go throught the various forums you can find tips on the F103. Adjusting the diff and tire selection is a big key. I think Tamiya could help drivers out by putting set up tips on their web site. I like the the way the courage body looks, but the basic kit will fit almost any 190 mm body. I never quite understood why they allowed lipos in the class. That might discourage some drivers from the competing, because they may feel they can't compete with that. Although, lipos may be overkill for this class. Also, another idea for this class is to allow for a longer race. I am sure with the silver can motor you could probably run at least ten minutes. I have run 12th scale in the past, and one of the attractions is the 8 minute heats. In some areas of the country they run the F103's in endurance races. I think the F103 has a great potential because if its low cost and cheap parts. You don't really need a lot of hop ups.

If I could run 2 on-road classes and had the electronics/money to get the electronics for my F103GT, I would be out there at Nats. However, I have to focus on one class due to funds, or lack there of.

I'm intending to run Mini (surprise!!) again this year but will be bringing a 103GT just in case...

Agreed that longer races would be interesting and that run time is definitely not a problem with either 4200's or LiPo's. New bodies? Big thumbs up!!!

Now where's that case of black can motors I was working on...

F103GT should run on foam tires. TA could spec a manufacturer's prepackaged foam shoe like they did 10 years ago with the Jaco white and purple for the 103 F1 car. Then, anyone could run this car anywhere and have fun with it. Oldtimers, remember '95-'98? On foams, we would regularly have 30-50 F1 cars at the regionals and more still at the nats.


A few years back, I tested my F1 with old Tamiya HBR mediums, a 540J and LiPo's and was easily hangin with the GT1's. Same way with 4-cell and a 19T.

It'd be a great way to get use outta all those extra silver cans.....Cheap, Fast, Fun........FOAM!!!!!

GT2 for me also, I understand there could be an interesting issue about the spec batteries for GT2 and mini?
