We ran a Novak 6.5 in the Tamiya 4 hour Enduro last year with no issues and it was as fast at the end as it was at the start.

Eeyan - I am retired. I get to test lipo batteries for work - performance testing, life cycle testing, safety testing etc. I have a stash of a couple thousand lipo cells from over 10 different manufacturers - literally.
I'll be racing mod at the fun race this sunday. You get to see just how much I suck now. I suck sooo bad, that I now swallow too.

I'll be running the same 415 that I started using back in 2004. Is there an antique class?

Red face

Ling,

Oh okay, I thought you work at a nuclear power plant. How many tons of Lipo did you say you guys have? Hopefully not enough to separate San Francisco into a detached island...

BTW, according to Dan's scribblings under Chris' TA05... Chris swallows too... whatever than means...

I've used both. I use the Thunder Power one on my 3-Cell airplane stuff, works awesome. That's the nice thing about LiPo...there AREN'T any mumbo-jumbo charging techniques. If it's a 3200Mah battery, you charge at 3.2 amps. 4800? 4.8. It's pretty simple. Even Marty can do it!

gary. i just bought the dynamte Lipo charger. and the 3200 race spec. I need to know what setting i need to set it at. So i don't blow the battery up. I would like to know some of the safety tips, and how to take care of it before i take this battery for a spin. I already use bullet plug conectors. Also do i need the novak lipo cut off regulator? tell me. what do i need to do to keep this thing from blowing up nad making a mess?

GK, The chargers you linked to only charge at 2.0 and 2.5 amps MAX. This will require extended charge time and no battery benifit.

Leester, I would buy a charger that can charge at higher rates. For additional info read Ling's research... http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthr...=lipo+awareness

Lipos need to experienced to be be appreciated. Racers, start using them at your local tracks and demand a class for them. Others WILL follow....

Lee, just set it to 2 cells, and a 2 amp charge rate and you'll be fine. The Novak cutoff isn't a bad idea. I haven't used on myself, but it would prevent you from over-discharging your LiPo.

Safety Tips:
Never discharge it below 3.3 volts per cell or 6.6 total volts
Don't short it out
Don't charge it with anything but a LiPo charger

The 3200 is a really good battery and the Dynamite charger works really well. It'll take a little over an hour to charge. One weird thing with Lipo is the "reverse peak" that it has on track. By that I mean the battery will INCREASE it's voltage output after you've run for a little bit. What happens is as the cells heat up, the chemical reaction actually speeds up which will increase the voltage. It's kinda weird but it's noticable on the laptimes.

Right, but for the pricepoint he was looking for he wasn't going to find anything with a much higher charge rate.

The Orion Avionics and the Multiplex lipo chargers are awesome for the money...around $70 and can charge up to 5.0 amps.

Team Orion Avionics Advantage Park Flight Charger, 29.99. Charges at up to 3.0 amps and it's "ORION"

Sounds like a better deal to me.......
