Without being too long winded. I feel like thew state of the economy is finally catching up with the rest of the country. Living in Detoit, we felt the first blow and have continued to feel it.All we kept hearing was how great it was everywhere else and how it was auto industry driven.Even though sales might be up, margins can be down due to operating costs, if I were a betting man thats where I would put my money. Diffuser is right, in the end it comes down to the balance sheets, it hurts, but they are not in business to please us to the detriment of making money.

I know on RC-Tech I may be in the minority but I think racing at the level we have all pushed it has in the end done as much damage as it has helped.

It's all fun and games until somebody pulls out the credit card.

Bussines is bussiness. I've been through a few local track relocations. At first it looks like the sky has fallen. If you allways look on the brighter side, somehow there is survival and then revival. Change can be good, or change be bad. In the long run karma makes the future. Keep the Red/Blue Star faith. Only you determine if you survive or not.

Since the Tamiya track is closing no need for my 415 MRE, looks like I will be selling it soon.

Dougie and the SIR crew. thanks for putting on another great TCS! this was my second year and it was more fun than last. seeing old friends and making new ones is what keeps me coming back to TCS.

the sat. night BBQ was awesome. well stocked parts, (my tab was unusually low - which means i didnt break much ) food counter...and great racing! looks like i will make this my annual "thing to do"

great win for Doc in mini. and remember.. TWO LIMs dont make a RIGHT!

thanks for all the help from Troy, Dan, Kevin M. Keith Yu, my evil twin as my cheering section, Nospoom for the laughs. and DJ Jesse Galang for the sick tunes and SICK MOTOR! Hey Jaybee.. .remember, its good for at least a tenth!

First off, many thanks to Doug and his amazing crew at SIR this past weekend- truly a spectacular event with LOTs of local volunteer participation, good clean fun (even with the Canadians ) and some of the best racing i've seen in the past 20 years. It's hard to believe the quality of driving that this series has attracted and developed- truly top notch stuff. And Troy, thanks for the diff parts- you made it happen, man.

Second, for those who took a moment to call or e-mail me over the weekend (gotta love the Blackberry) with their support & well wishes during qualifying and congratulations on the Mini win- again, many MANY thanks! I think I've been the bridesmaid in Mini something like 9 times, but this was my first win, and against some very stiff competition. As I've gotten older, the podiums have gotten farther and farther apart...this is an occasion I'll not soon forget. Respect The Pink!!! (look at the pics when they get posted and you'll see what I mean). And yes, that really is my prized Ramones t-shirt.

Third, based on my conversations with Fred over the weekend (and a lot of my own opinion), there's still a lot to be determined about what will happen with the Aliso facility and when. I've (unfortunately) had quite a bit of experience dealing with downsizing and outsourcing the past five years, so I figure that some of the results will probably be favorable to our hobby (faster & more accurate shipping, more profitable for Tamiya) and some will...probably not. Even if they vacate the warehouse in early June, that's some expensive land and it may take a while to sell, then a while to close, and even then it may take a while for a developer to do anything with it. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed (and my tickets in hand) for the 2007 Regional at the end of June and the Nats in August to be held at Aliso. We shall see.

All I can say is that going forward, we should each take the opportunity to enjoy any regional TCS race that comes our way and thank Fred and Tamiya for making such an enormous impact on our sport and hobby.

Later
Doc
