What's up with this?

Does it have anything to do with the Leester heading to the OC? J/K

Yes the Rumor is true.

Tamiya will be restructuring over the next few months and as part of this they will be moving to a new location in Irvine.

They have told me the track will be open week to week from this day forward and they are planning on being moved out of the Aliso Viejo Facility by end of May.

What this means for the Reedy Race and the TCS is not yet determined and both may still occur and will more then likely occur however they may be at another facility yet to be determined.

This has been planned for awhile but the actual dates and details where not yet finalized until last week.

I personally have been going there every Saturday for over 10 Years and for me it has been sad news. I do however want to say thank you to all of the locals many of whome have become close friends and also Thank You to Tamiya, as being able to do anything great even for a limited time is better then never being able to do it at all. I will have many fond memories and those are priceless and will be around forever.

Fred announced the Tamiya facility move today at the SIR TCS.
The building will be up for sale but the track may be used until the sale.
He will not give up on holding the Nats, either at the current facility or an offsight location. Gotta love that guy.
Same goes for the REEDY Race.

As long as the dates stay the same for the Nats, I'm still game no matter where we race! Just PLEASE do not move the dates around.

This is a bit of a surprise, and a little sad at the same time. I ran the very first race at Aliso before there was even a true TCS before moving back to Michigan, and have made seven trips to the Nats over the years. It is a beautiful facility that will go down in history as one of the best that ever was.
I wonder if they will do something at the new place, or maybe revert back to Tamiyas roots and do a parking lot deal. If I had to bet I would say that they got an offer they couldn't refuse for the property, or if they lease the owners put the rent beyond what Tamiya could afford. After all it is a prime spot in the middle of a booming market.

Tamiya has always owned the land so they are in the process of preparing it for sale. (when they sell it they will make a fortune!!)

I have been told to keep opening the track on Sat. until further notice and Fred is going to work all the angles he can to keep the annual events their in some capacity.

Their are still many variables; maybe the poroperty will not sell as fast as planned, maybe the new owners will delay demoing the facility and lease the track back to Tamiya for any events. At this point there are some thing more likely then others but it is all still up in the air.

I'll guess if the TA land changes hands...Nats could be in your back yard this year

DO it RC Pro Series style...

The event that has the best turnout for that year hosts the Finals the next Year. For Example Lets Say this is the turnout for this year:

Trackside- 192
SIR- 203
Memphis- 125
Alisio- 180 (going away so it don't matter)
Laurel- 162

In this example, SIR would host not only their regional event in 2008, but the Finals as well. Works for the RC Pro Series

I could almost see it as being a rotational thing between Trackside and SIR.

Not that I would not want it in Memphis or Laurel, my concern would be weather as a factor, especially for outside places. So if the Aliso facility is sold between now and then and they bulldoze it, there are other options or even like was mentioned earlier.. go old school parking lot racing, by the new location.

I am glad I don't work for Tamiya USA, sounds like a nightmare.
