Hello everyone,

The 2007 TCS Rules are posted on tamiyausa.com. I would like to mention that allot of thought and debate has gone into developing the TCS rules to make things as fun, fair and progressive as possible for 2007. I know some will debate the rules and some will wonder why not this and why not that. At the end of the day it is what it is and things do change as I see how things develop. Mostly, it is my priority that everyone have fun. Whether you're a hardcore Tamiya racer, new racer to the series or to the hobby it's my intent to keep it interesting.
The main debate has been Lipo batteries. For those who know me you will realize that I firmly believe this technology is the future. It's here and it's now. You will notice that Lipo batteries are legal for the NEW F103GT class only. No weight penalties. While Lipo batteries are becoming more common place you will notice that I have limited the brand of battery for now. This was done as it is the battery that I personally have the most experience with. As new products come out on the market I will make changes accordingly. For now we will use this formula.
The other thing that was considered and is still in development is a class that uses two technologies that will be the future of RC. In many ways it's already here and the future is NOW. That class will incorporate Brushless motors and Lipo batteris. Stay tuned for that.....................

I hope everyone has a good season this year. I will be at three of the out of town events this year and I hope to see everyone there.

Looks like I am running Mini again this year and will be more prepared then just building my car and glueing tires the morning of qualifying like this last year. Should be fun!

Thanks, Fred! Nice set of rules.

One question:
Please let us know whether IB4200 cells are legal. Despite my multiple readings of the regs, I can't decide whether or not they are permitted. My guess is yes, since they seem to be the premier battery of choice right now, but your confirmation would be appreciated.

Great to see the M03's and M04's back in the same class again! At several of the regional races there were hardly enough 04's to run the class, but if you look at the lap times from last year you'll find very little different between the two classes. Different racing lines, yes, but very similar lap times.

Those who have lobbied for LiPo packs will be pleased (at least the 103GT crowd), as will folks who see that cell type as the battery of the future.

Looking forward to seeing you at the kickoff race at Trackside in a few weeks!

Later

I'm a bit confused on the batteries as well. I would assume IB4200's are legal as they were at the Nats last year (and some ran them at the regional race at Aliso as well).

Also, the LiPos are specified as Orion/Peak Carbon (3200 mAh) or Platinum (4200 at the battery list but 4800 mAh in the F103GT rules). I'm assuming they only make the Platinum in a 4800 mAh, and the 4200 is a typo.

Thanks for all the hard work, Fred. I'm sure we'll all adapt and be ready in time for Trackside!

Since a preview of the Nats is posted, which is little more than 7 months away, I wonder if they will allow participants to run a Worlds class and another class? Althoug it may not change anything for me, just a curiosity.

I do think the ranking system is important and I am glad they are doing something for the 1st 2 rounds of racing the Nats.

The F103GT rules seem pretty good. I am glad my guns are sticking to me

Looking forward to 2007 Race #1.
