Default Mini tires

Ran the new mini tire this weekend The tire ran well but. We did have two rims fail over the course of the weekend. But at $22 a set I think it will deter a lot of people from running mini Cooper.

Yep.. theyíre over priced.. and theyíre 27 actually.. so $54 for a set + tax.. thatís 30% + the cost of chassis.

Prefer to run the old tyres.

The raikirj gt is popular as it is low and good aero. I used it in gt2 and hooks up pretty good. Get a lightweight body if you can.

Default Japan trip class

Looks like one of the Japan trip classes is changing. Mini and GT-2 remain trip classes. GT-1 is out. We need to know what the 3rd trip class is going to be. Need to work on setup for Omaha.

Default Type H carpet tire

Any hints on when the new Type H carpet will be available for comparison and setup tweak for the finals?

I'm not sure that's correct. I think a GT1 racer who has not previously won a trip to Japan can still win a trip...at least that's how I would interpret the new rules.

Since the TRF420 manual shows drilling a hole on the damper cap to get zero rebound, I wonder if this is now legal for all other kits.

If I had to guess, the 3rd trip winning class may be euro truck judging by the popularity.

Hi Fred: Can we get an answer to the above questions? The idea of participating in the Finals is interesting to many TCS fans. Perhaps not in the world champion class but in other classes. What gives?

Also, can you clarify this discrepancy in the GT1 rules which start by indicating any Tamiya chassis but then restricts it?
GT1
"This is the premiere touring car class featuring the use of any Tamiya touring car variant driven by very experienced and skilled drivers."

Legal chassis platforms: Any variant TRF 414,415,416,417,418, 419, 420 TB EVO 1-7 and any variant XV-01, TA-05, TA-06, TA-07, TB-03, TB-04, and TB-05.

Also, why no love for the Front Wheel Drive FF03/04 cars? They are not included in "Legal" lists for GT1 and GT2? While 4WD's will probably win against them they are certainly are fun to run and are part of the Tamiya tradition.

GT1 and GT2 rules have been 4WD for decades and itís simply understood. as for mixing FWD with 4WD.. I donít think that will happen..

GT1 is any on road Tamiya 4WD Chassis. The list isnít a restriction, itís more like a suggestion of chassis to run. You can run a TT01 or even a TA01 if you want from the early 90s if you choose to.

There used to be FWD class, heck even and Rallye class for TCS but since no one ran them, they were dropped.

Maybe with the 2020 season underway, a stronger enforcement of the rule of "sponsored" drivers entering/winning certain class races? Something I noticed that has been happening historically at TCS...

*probably opening a can of worms...please don't hurt me....*

That's an excellent idea ! Now clearly define the criteria to determine the difference between an expert driver and a sportsman driver. Please don't take as a personal jab, just pointing out the difficulty to enforce something that seems "so easy". You have 12 year olds racing mod sedan and guys who have raced 20 years who hit everything in sight once you strap in something faster than a 17.5 with locked timing. What about the guy who podiums every race at his local track when there is only 2-3 good drivers in the class compared to a person who is a top B main driver because there are 15+ fast guys at his local track ?
