Kevin CBR: Try your Group C car with a 19T and a 4-cell pack....UNBELIEVABLE!!!... At the TCS finals this year during practice on thurs I ran my F103 on Tamiya foams (like, 6-year old tires), minimal tinkering, and ran 15.7-16.0 laptimes on the Nats layout.... Just Awesome!!

Ummmm Group C cars with 4cells in them? They Carry 6 cells I believe. I think you are talking about the 1/12th scale chassis. Is that correct? Unless you found a way to fit 4 cells in there without them moving around.

I got a good idea.....actually a great idea! Run a Group C car.... with LiPo Battries in there with a 9 turn hacker brushless!!!!!.

Just like the Group C car, 4-cell in the F103 is pretty simple. Center the pack on the chassis under the radio tray, and press-fit soft foam on both sides----takes, oh about 10 secs with stuff you'll already find in yer toolbox!!!

Doc,

What made you bring out your F103...

Were you hoping that they would not notice it in mini...

I am getting dizzy with this full circle stuff...
(you know; F103foam, F103rubber, F103Lemans, F201, "C" car aka F103foam)

So the C-cars come with foam tires? While I would much rather see rubber tires, for this car I understand. I talked to Todd M. about these cars and he would be interested in club racing. Mimi would certainly host it.

Anybody else around the DC area interested?

Jeff: I made a bet with Demory while we were at the TCS race in Atlanta. His argument was that Jun's analysis of the F103 vs F201 showed that 4WD was better when you ramp up the horsepower.... My argument was that removing two cells from the F103 reduces the weight dramatically from a percentage standpoint and improves handling by reducing inertia and moving the CG forward. IIRC, those laptimes would have easily been good enough for the GT1 finals, and with a little tweakin' and fresh foams, a 4cell 19T F103 would give GT1 a good workout......(with 10 minute run times).

Default whose fastest?

Which is the outright fastest in your opinion? (same motor)

Open-wheeled F103 with foam tires
Open-wheeled F103 with rubber tires
LeMans chassied F103 with foam tires
Group C with foam tires

I haven't ever driven a Tamiya Group C car, so I say the LeMans is the fastest.

Tcs body choices

For GT2 what is the best body choice?

For GT1 what is the best body choice? including the B4 (we are allowed to run the B4 bodies IN CANADA)

Tcs Mini , is the M04M or the M03L a better choice with the limited gearing on the M04M does the M03L have a noticable advantage?

Sandman-
I'm gonna go with the F103 on foams. Light, quick, nimble.

On the right track the LeMans bodied car could be faster, but I suspect the extra body weight would hinder it in most places. On the carpet with those 45 turn motors the F1's were a little bit quicker.

The Group C cars are heavier that any 101/102/103 series chassis due to the larger body styles and plastic tub, but I bet they're still mighty fast. With a 19 turn and 4 cells like Bruce suggested...they'd be freakin' ballistic!
