Default TCS Nationals

What is the entry limit/ maximum per driver for the TCS National this year at Aliso Viejo? I was told that the maximum was two entries per driver. Is this correct or can I run one more class?

Yes, max entries at Nats is two classes and has been that way for some time. If you are entering a trip class (GT-1, GT-2 or mini), you can only enter one of these classes and then a second class (like Euro Truck, GT Pro Spec or FWD class if they run again this year. You could not for example enter GT-1 and GT-2. Being the last Nationals at Tamiya America Raceway, entry lists should be very high.

Unless there's been a change I didn't notice, Nationals are set for August 18-19. Practice the two days before.

How far in advance does registration for the nationals usually open?

Typically 3-4 weeks prior to the race. Similar as a Regional. As Mark noted, track will be open Thursday and Friday 16-17 August fro practice. Figure roughly 9am - 5 or 6 pm those two days. Thursday practice will normally start as open practice and switch to controlled practice if it gets really crowded or people start driving real stupid. Friday will usually have a larger crowd and go controlled practice early.

Default TCS Nationals

Let's start talking about specs for the Nationals. I understand the tires will be Solaris 36's for all touring classes. What about motors? What classes will run handout motors? Which classes will run the Reedy spec motors? Will the motors need to be purchased at the race?

Will there be a FWD class at the Nationals? I sure hope so; I just ordered a kit. If there is, what's the motor/tire situation for it?

Previously they did FWD with 21.5. I would not bet on a FWD class this year at Nats. As big as the final TCS National race at the Tamiya Raceway is looking to be, the class count needs to be trimmed in order not to run into a three day event!!! I love the FWD class, and I am bummed as well. Interest seems to have died off overall.

Hey, your picture of the 787B Mazda looks familiar. You remind me a lot of this guy I used to know that worked at Tamiya and then moved out of state. Humm, probably someone else.

Exclamation Finals spec motor and spec tires?

I think all three classes that go to Japan will be using the Reedy spec motors. The motors will be available to purchase on Thursday the first day of practice, they will be marked and sealed . I believe the tires too will also be available to purchase on Thursday and will also be marked so those tires will be the only ones that you can race with. I think they will have practice tires for sale also but not completely sure, hopefully Fred Medal will let us know for sure if and when tires will be sold.
That is all I know for now, I'm sure he will post more information at some point!

I know it’s early but do we know for sure if the Reedy spec (non adjustable) 21.5 will be the mini motor for next season?

Do we know the mini motor for finals? It was set to be the fixed timing Reedy, but it doesn't work without modifying the M07 chassis, so there was talk of a different motor.

Fred said he is hoping to have the Nationals information finalized within the next two weeks. Nationals is still about 9 weeks away so their is still plenty of time to get all confirmed for people to prepare.
