What are a the rules for the novice class on tires? Under general rule:
40. Any tire insert may be used in classes that have OPEN Tamiya tire rules. “Spec” pre-
mounted rubber tire classes may not remove the installed Tamiya insert. Running
rubber tires with no inserts is permitted and legal in the open tire classes.

Under GT Spec Novice:
5. Medium Narrow 24mm tires and wheels are NOT allowed. All Tamiya Spec Class cars
MUST use 26mm wheels and tires. Note: The TT-02 R and S kits come with
24mm wheels and tires. You will have to switch to 26mm wheels and tires to
be TCS Spec Class legal.

So I glued up 2 sets of tires and wheels with these parts:

Did I mess up or are they legal for the race on Sunday?

FMW is probably the best guy to ask, but that looks like the right setup. Inserts have always been pretty much open except on the premounts

it will be a lot of fun. just make sure you sit back (when you're not on the track), watch all the racing (GT1/GT2 and M-Chassis will be high competition), take lots of pictures, have fun! and the most important part: make plans for next year's race

I'm bummed I can't make it this year - the crew at Brownies' Hobbies and Jackson RC always put on a good show

It was great to see how amp'd Aiden was after that race.

That regiment of 100 pushups 100 situps and 100 squats is really paying off - ONE PUNCH!!

You gotta bring that dump truck out to TNL one night..

The official 2017 rules in the wheel and tire section 40 states for open tire classes(AKA none spec premount tire classes) you can use any insert or not to use insert at all.

https://www.tamiyausa.com/articles/l...date_62717.pdf

"40. Any tire insert may be used in classes that have OPEN Tamiya tire rules. “Spec” pre- mounted rubber tire classes may not remove the installed Tamiya insert. Running rubber tires with no inserts is permitted and legal in the open tire classes."

Lots of people prefer the radial with no insert to get the most grip but the down side is the tire will wear unevenly and only last about three runs. The insert makes the tire a little more edgy but increase tire life tremendously.

Just want to thank Fred and Tamiya for continuing to support their customers by putting on this wonderful race series. They are doing such an excellent thing for the broader r/c community. This is the only place I consistently see new racers, novice classes, and factory support.

The Brownies Hobbies / Jackson Raceway TCS event just wrapped up (as noted above by one very proud dad!) and it was all smiles as usual. The organizers did a fantastic job moving the program along, a bunch of us ex-announcers got to take our turn on the mic and the racing was fierce as usual! Just wish I could make it to the Nationals this year...some day.

Jackson TCS Race: Results are in, 99 entries and the best venue in RC racing. Thank you Fred and Tamiya for keeping this series alive and well. To echo Greg's remarks, there is no other RC event where each year you see new faces in the hobby. Congrats to all the winners but more importantly, the novice spec racers of all ages. I believe the youngest was 7 years old. Hats of to Aiden for a fantastic come back to win the class.
