i like running realistic bodies.. most of the Tamiya TCS participants do.

what is that thing? i think it falls in a similar class as the Tamiya Subaru Legacy race body.. 'not quite real' and too slippery

if thats the 'original' that its replicating, it should be allowed in the F1 class and mounted the same way..

Try googling the 1/10 scale version. It looks like an NSX w/ a more boxy rear section.

im well aware of what it is.. the point is its not a replica of a real automobile.

in the past if it doesnt 'closely resemble' that of a major manufacturer (example would be the Tamiya Subaru B4 Legacy body) then it was not given the ok.. This is actually a first for Tamiya TCS that i know of.. Will be interesting what the official ruling will be.

As of the start of the current season, there is no mention of this body in the TCS rules. How can it now be deemed illegal? #SeriousQuestion

The body set is not even available from Tamiya America yet. What I was told when I asked if this body would be legal for TCS was "no". And the reason ? As OSherman noted before, it is not based on a real car (production street model or racing). For anyone that understands Tamiya, this is easy to accept. And it is not precedent setting. TCS did not allow the Subaru B4 Legacy and Legacy 2.0 body sets either years ago for the same reason.

I walked into a Hobbytown and it was sitting on the counter. Is Tamiya going to reimburse me, since "someone" deemed this body to be "illegal" for TCS???

I'm guessing that's a big fat NO. I still plan on running it at a regional race, due to the fact that I have never seem a Tamiya rep. at any races I have attended.

P/N 51585 Raikiri GT 190mm body set shows "Out of Stock" on Tamiya website. Maybe it was so popular, it sold out already

I will get one eventually to try for our local tracks GT Sedan class but will stick with bodies I know are legal for GT-1 for the TCS races.

Not to stir the pot but unless it calls out specifically that body as being not allowed I would use it if you want. The rules are specific regarding 2007 and older NSX bodies, Ebbros and Legacy bodies. Until it says no Raikiri, i would assume it's legal.

If they want to say no go for Nats I can understand.

That's a huge difference. Race directors bust their butts to make these races as strict as they can. And that's one of the things I love about TCS. No such luxury out here. If Fred comes on and says no Raikiri I'm fine.. No problem. But he hasn't mentioned it on here or posted it on the rules. I was saying if it was me...id run it.
