Tamiya Championship Series

I feel it's an honor every time we get to race a TCS race, here in the USA, on Tamiyas' tab
Perhaps that's because I was there for the very 1st TCS race in 1995
I'm amazed Tamiya still supports this hobby, giving so much back to the racers
I can't think of another brand who does so much here ?
Sorry for your loss
Hopefully you'll recover and be able to get through these tough times...

GUYS (and GALS): HOW MANY YEARS IN A ROW HAVE YOU PARTICIPATED IN TCS?
HAS ANYBODY PARTICIPATED EVERY YEAR SINCE TCS STARTED?

3 years so far and can say that My Son and Myself always came home with a Smile on our faces!
Thanks Tamiya for giving us some great times! PLEASE Keep it up!

This past weekend was my 3rd; all at Harbor Hobbies. Next year I'm hoping to make it to at least one more....Omaha? Ohio? Both?!

15 straight years and had fun every time (trackside and Harbor Hobby). Have sneaked into town A-main now and then, so definitely not doing it for the prizes. I have met some great people over the years and always look forward to seeing them each year. You can't beat the bond that is Tamiya fans share.

I have 22 straight years in a row (oh wait, that's all of them). I have enjoyed and had fun at all of them. My wife's family plans gatherings around the TCS race schedule. First race was in 94' with a F101.

June 2004 was my first TCS. Started running the Hobby People parking lot races that year as a 43 year old "Novice" with a TA02-SW (with the Tamiya Porsche GT-2 body on it), and two months later showed up at my first TCS race with a shiny new 414M II and then found out I had to run 19T in GT-1. That was a baptism by fire. Have since raced all the So Cal TCS at the Aliso Viejo track and TQ RC Racing plus a few travels to Northern California at both Nor Cal Hobbies and Fremont Hobby Town parking lot race and finally Seattle Indoor Raceway both as an indoor asphalt and carpet track. Best know for concourse and have won a concourse class every year at Nationals since 2006. Found my passion with F1 and near the sharp end of the stick at Nationals now so hope to one day travel to Japan and represent the USA like a few of my close friends have and yes, it is true, it would be a lot cheaper to just by the plane ticket and fly over compared to what most of us will spend over 10+ years of RC but from the personal stories I have heard, that trip is priceless. Until that day happens, I will continue to enjoy making new friends and gathering life long memories of some epic battles with some really good guys and helping the new F1 drivers get their cars up to speed.
These pictures of my office I think says it all about my support and appreciation of Tamiya. Thank you Fred and all the Tamiya staff over the years for putting on this traveling road show for so many years.

I raced the TCS when I was doing my residency in Iowa City. 2009 - 2013. I was there for a total of 4 years and did 3 years of the TCS nationals in Aliso. From where I used to live, the closest Series race was either in Omaha, NE which was 4 hours driving away, at Winthrop Harbor, IL which was 4.5 hours away or Trackside,WI 5 hours away. But there was no way stopping me from hitting the series races.... Not even the snow storm!
I raced 10 years of Tamiya Asiacup in Asia prior to coming to the states and had always wanted to experience the races on the other side of the world.
The TCS series was truly unbelievable as i met many people that are as passionate or even more passionate then me in the series. Many took pride in their bodies as well as had a great show of sportsmanship. I truly enjoyed the TCS races that I made while I was living there.
Having moved back, I guess I benefitted from the carpet races that I made and eventually won the Asiacup last year and made it to the Tamiya World Championships. It was indeed a dream come true .... the experience was unbelievable.
Even when I am no longer living in the states, I still try to make it for the Omaha series race when I come over for my meetings. But the challenges i face are unbelievable.. 44kg weight limit and 24 hours of flight with 2 layovers in between. I made it for 2 years so far but both times being jet lagged and with only 1 qualifiers to complete. I guess thats my devotion to this little sport. Thank you TCS for the great experience.. Maybe someday I will be a regular at Aliso.. But for now, I am happy with my medal tally of 4 golds, 5 silvers and 4 bronzes.

I have been compiling a history of TCS regional Races for the last few years. I have a top 30 list of race winners and podium placers from all the regional results posted over the last 20+ years of TCS.
With TCS race #211 completed, I have updated the results. Please see attached files.
BTW - I am missing details for the following races. If any one has the old RC Car Action or printed results for the following, I would appreciate it so I can update the records to get a more complete total.
42 Oct-97
47-64 April 98- Nov 99
66 (GT2) Nov-99
68 Feb 00 (canceled?)
76, 77 Nov 00 - Mar 01
From my results, Doc Mertz, Bruce Hickman and Steve Hickman have attended the most TCS races, over 50 each
Enjoy,
Erik

Looks like the data is missing someone, can't pinpoint who....
Maybe someone that is a TCS World Champion?
Maybe someone that is a TCS World Champion?

1998 in Overland Park Kansas...fwd class..FF01 or as it was called then Ta02FF. I've been hooked ever since!

Need to win a few more regional races I guess

FYI - I compiled the list after over hearing Doc Mertz say he had attended his 50th TCS race (back in 2010). After that I was curious about the history of the regional races. Tamiya USA was nice enough to document all the races since mid 2002 and I was lucky to find someone that had results for many of the 1st races, although there are some holes in my data.
My first race was in 1999 (28 races and counting) with a few years off in between for birth of children and marriage - talk about lack of priorities!

that is not Rod, but occasionally they may share the same breakfast table.
