You have to run the 540J motor (item# 53689). Personally, I would recommend just a little oil on the bushings and that's it. There is a 18,750 RPM limit and just oiling the bushings and running the motor out of the box will put you pretty close to that as the motor runs in on it's own.

Has anyone used the new Tamiya tires (1031, 1032) on the F104 Pro? What changes did you make from using the other Tamiya F1 tires? Trying to prepare for the TCS race. Thanks.

We ran those tires at our TCS race this past weekend. They worked really well. They really seemed to stabilize the car over the normal Tamiya F1 tires. A few people tried different inserts but most just ran the stock insert with great success.....

These tires are money!
They are a direct result of having a Tamiya bigshot (hi Fred ) racing in the UF1 series with us here in So Cal and seeing the performance of the Pit Shimizu 071 and 072 tires which are what finally made these modern F1 cars actual race machines.
The 1031 and 1032 tires ARE the same tires and have the TCS logo on them and were introduced last year.
They work incredible on asphalt and carpet with superior traction on both ends of the car.
Run the rear of the car soft and the front of the car medium to firm.
Carpet sauce em with Jack the Gripper or SXT (careful how much on front tires, 1/2 is common) and for asphalt use Buggy Grip or Tire Tweak. Done deal

So... what is the head count for each class for the TCS race next weekend? Lots' of discussion going this weekend regarding people signing up for Mini Pro (21.5). If you haven't done so and you're interested, sign up!

I switched to slower can, I mean silver can. Response to 21.5 sounded to iffy to me yesterday and as David J stated in a post earlier, if 5 or more sign up on race day he will add the class as an exhibition class but no prizes etc will be awarded.
Maybe next time

Attn: TCS officials. I have a quick question. Do I have to race a regional race to be eligible for this years nats? I heard a rumor that if you made the top (10) at the previous nats you could skip the regionals. But I can't find that rule. Can you clarify this for me. Thanks in advance.

Are there spec tires for each event? Per class?
Was planning on attending Enfield ct and wanted to know what tire to run for gt2?

I was in the same situation. This will probably be an on going theme throughout this season. I predict only one or two venues will host the 21.5 mini class.
I preferred the 21.5 class but the fast mini group of drivers were using silver cans and that's who I wanted to race against... so silver can it was.

^^^JRZ there is a spec tire:

Premounted B3 Type Tires 24mm TCS Spec tire. Tamiya #1015

Juan, you must have participated and made the top 10 in a regional event during the season or prior season in order to participate in the Finals. So if you participated in the 2012 finals but hadn't run a regional since 2011, you have to participate in a regional this year to run in the 2013 Finals. How many regionals?... Just Juan...
