My aunt lives 5min from the trac, I was just whinning
Kevin just found out this morning, boy if you think I was whinning, just wait for his posts
Besides, that was my only chance to get away from the wife for a whole week, RATS.

Not sure about the F1 class.

The Bad
Tamiya USA almost killed it 4 years ago due to lack of "popularity".
Tamiya Japan in 2005 killed it as a Worlds class.
Locally people do not usually run it probably due to cost of maintaining it.
Many Purists do not want to run it because it is 4WD.
Usually Tamiya USA's rules like for 2006 are not posted until after the Worlds (November/December ish)

The Good
Tamiya USA is still running it this year at the 2005 Regionals and 2005 Nationals.
No formalized announcement has been made.
Rumor of a new 2WD F1, which might excite the class and purists.

We will see what happens...

I have heard the roumor as well. I like the F201. Its super cool looking on the track and fun to drive. Tamiya would be making a mistake getting rid of it as a class. What they need to do (My opinion) is allow or MAKE a graphite chassis and top plate. It will cool the car, make it more rigid and make it surely easier to work on. I would race F201's in a heartbeat if they did this.

I don't like the plastic chassis...it allows the motors to overheat and it warps, and it is not easy to work on.

Anyway my .02 for whatever its worth.

I have a question about the Tamiya USA facility. I will be the the area next week and was wandering is the Track and facility open to the public during the week. I was hoping to get there next Tuesday, July 12 to check out the place I was even thinking of sneaking a car and some stuff in my suitcase to maybe be able to take some laps on the track. Can anyone let me know the details, also do they have a showroom or shop that you can buy stuff at.

Thanks,
Larry

I am sure the locals can confirm this or Fred.....

The only time the track is open is every Saturday from 9 to 4. I never heard it being open on weekdays, if it is, it probably would only be for TRF or the factory testing purposes.

They do have a museum on site that shows off some of their stuff.

If you need parts you can goto customer service and order, usually depending on the time of day the wait could be long or short. Having a list of what you want and part numbers is very helpful. You would pay full list price though.

They might be even able to give you a facility tour, that would probably be something you would have to arrange in advance of your trip.

If you really want to race so-cal is pretty nice. There are many nice Hobbyshops. Close to Tamiya is Gyro Hobbies and a personal favorite is Ultimate Hobbies.

Tamiya R&D track is open Saturday's only to the public.

Regular parts department open M-F 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Closed 1 hour for louch (I think 12:00 - 1:00 PM).

They now have an "Outlet Store" that they offer close out pricing on some kits and parts usually. Believe it is only open Monday / Wednesday / Friday. Hours are also limited. Suggest you call Tamiya before. you come out to confirm the days of the week and store times.

Have a fun trip.

So on point again...If YOU race F201 would you like to use Graphite chassis' OR if you could use these options WOULD you run F201?

My opinion run F201 as a more "Unlimited" chassis class with the standard motor rules, or Allow the Eagle chassis or a siliar design, or Tamiya make one. Don't get rid of this class...its so close to being AWESOME!

I'd buy another 201 today if they offered and allowed the options holding the class back.

Default Rules

Looks like they updated the rules for Nats. Mabuchi for gt2 and mini.

Also they dont list the TA-05 for nats but they do list it for regionals.

1. All Tamiya TA, TB and TL series sedan chassis' (TA01, TA02, TA03, TA04, TL01, TB01 & TB02, TB-02R (Tub chassis), FF01, FF02).
