If it does come true I'm gonna have to decide which 2 classes to run or dream of the possibility of a 3rd class being allowed to run.
I would be down for:
F1 (21.5)
Mini Pro (17.5)
FF03 (21.5)

If they go to BL 21.5 FF
I may have to bust mine out again, it's only got like 3 runs on it

Oh man, I'm way ahead of you. I've got at least 10 runs on mine. 50/50 silver can and 21.5.
Nah, ok about 20 runs total.

You do know that you'll have to run condoms/rubber tires right?

Rubber is ok, as long as they have fenders wrapped around them
Got to change it up once in a while.

Now I might be crazy, in fact I know I am. But I would swear on a truckload of bibles that a past champion is supposed to forfeit the prizes from a TCS race, not sell them at the track a week after the race.

Then again I am crazy so I could be hallucinating

If this is widely known why are past champs getting all the loot still??!

Straight from TCS rules:

Past TCS Winning Champions: Racers that have won the “GRAND” prize (a.k.a. TCS National title) ARE eligible to participate in regular season TCS races. They are also eligible to win the first place trophy at these regional races; however they are not eligible to win the prizes that are associated with first place. In turn, we ask past champions to donate their first place prize to any participant or spectator of their choice. All former TCS national title winners that won the trip to Japan are eligible to participate at the TCS North American Finals under the “Past Champions” grudge match class and any special classes that are developed. National title winners that did not win a trip to Japan are eligible to compete again at the Nationals in a trip winning class.

Sorry to bring all of this negativity to the world of TCS. I had planned to give the kits to some of the rookies (I usually give them to the top rookie in the class), but by the time the awards were given out there weren't many left (or racers for that matter).

As a veteran TCS racer, I should have been aware of this long standing rule. There is no excuse for my behavior. For this I am truly sorry.

TCS racing has meant a lot to me over the years and I don’t wish to corrupt what has been a fun activity for so many. I pride myself on clean racing and helping others at the events, but my actions after the race only helped myself.

I spoke with Fred at Tamiya as well as the 3 racers directly affected by my actions and will return the kits back to the TCS community. 1 of the 3 racers affected accepted the kit. As such, I will personal deliver the kit to that racer with my heartfelt apology. The other 2 racers donated the kits for raffle. These kits will be added to the general raffle at TCS race #170 next month.

If by chance I attend a future race and am lucky enough to win another regional event, the prizes will be handed to the 2nd place finisher to avoid any ambiguity.

Again, I am sorry for my lack of judgment in this matter and hope we can all move forward.

Erik

FYI - Expect to see a few additional raffle prizes next month in Illinios so keep those tickets safe.

Why? You bringing the cars you won from Kansas too for the raffle!

Seems like this goes on every year and never gets resolved.

One TCS veteran that I talked to mentioned at the end of the day it usually goes unchecked due to everybody being fried. He also mentioned that initially that if a past champ won, it would go to 2nd place. With the increase of more beginner classes, going back to the original intent would make more sense and police itself.

Personally I see it this way. If there is a past champ present they should challenge themselves with harder classes instead of cherry-pick the easier classes. If there is a 3 class limit, they should be limited to 2. They won the big prize and associated prizes with it, why muck up the series taking away prizes from those who did not win the big ticket.
