Over the years, we've run some interesting Tamiya classes. From the F1 faithful, to the annual 24 Heures Du Jackson with TT01Es, it's been fun! And then there was the Mini Invitational with triple A-mains.....

And a big thumbs up to you and Al Sodano for keeping the track alive and making it what it is today buddy!

On a side note, Althouh going to the Tamiya America track is going to be amazing, I'm equally excited to be at my local TCS race in Lynwood, WA. The guys a Galaxy Hobby always put on a great race with a good turnout. Classic parking lot racing.

Called Tamiya today to purchase Mini Spec A's This is what I learned....
They said there will be a rule change on the way with those pre mounted Mini spec A 's, they will only be used for carpet racing only. They are currently being inventoried & are unavailable as of today. The spec S grips will be be for asphalt only & of course are available for over a year now.

We will wait to see if this true.

I heard that the A compound isn't the hot ticket for asphalt anyway?
Too soft, heats up and wears quickly? Also heard that they were for carpet TCS only so I picked up my S grips from Speedtechrc.com

Still would of like to try them on the rear of an M06 with s grips up front on an inside asphalt track like the one near me.

Its already been posted but here it is so you dont have to go lookin on Tamiya's website. Here are the 2012 Trip winning classes

Spec/Novice - Brushless Boosted 13.5
1/12 GT - Brushless Blinky 10.5
Mini 4 - Brushed 4 Turn Triple or 3 Turn Quad

All classes will run a spec handout foam tire with the pink strip down the center like the CKW foams from the early 90's. Batterys will be 1700 Panasonics 4 cell for all classes of course. Good luck to all this year !!

So after running last years spec tire on carpet and working on setup with them this year on carpet they are going to change the spec tire for carpet, that is bogus. Are they trying to kill mini?

Hey guys.

Sorry for all the confusion on the spec tire thing for Mini. For now, Mini guys will have three pre-mount tires to chose from. The S-grips and two "A" compounds which are mounted on a firm and soft insert. You may use these on any regional track regardless of surface.
If all goes well the three choices should offer all of you a decent set up. If things get messy this year we will re-evaluate the rule and adjust. The Mini Type A should be available shortly in time for the first regional race. They are being bagged as we speak....

On another note: check out our newest announcement regarding what the 2012 trip classes will be and a new wrinkle.

Happy New Year
