Well, for GT2, yeah, because a 2007 NSX won't fit my TA05R and is illegal there too. And for GT1 I got a coupla ideas. I'll share when I see you next.

Bring your A-game and all your rubber tires. We have 2 heats and pre-season testing is long finished. Guys are racing and fighting to make the a-main cutoff.

I still would love too see a second f1 class on foam so we can run two F1 classes, but the foam guys are laying low

Come on guys I know there are a lot of guys with foam tires and wheels, bring them out!

Default F104W Mystery

I don't understand what is up with the release of tree more F104W kits:

- Ferrari 643
http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products...i643/index.htm
- Mclaren
http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products...aren/index.htm
- Mclaren
http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products...n_mp/index.htm

In Japan, Tamiya has a separate TCS class for the W's but is there option tires and TCS parts? I Have not seen them? Were is this leading up too?

Sell the F104?
Bring the F103 out of the box and mix it up with the F104?
Get a F104W and mix up using F103 tires?

I ran the race before last at TQ (F1 winter series) close to 15 or more cars. Only two F104Pro (me and Mark), the rest went back to the F103.

Anyone has info on this mystery?

Cheers, Marcos

Marty - being the Tamiya F1 historian and collector that you are, did you notice the F102 style rear wing on the Ferrari 643 ?

Have not seen the new Honda Civic body out yet and played with but your same question has been asked here on the Left Coast also.

Wow, a wide F104 with huge foam rear tires. I bet that car will scamper around quickly.

But will these kits race? Maybe, but most will be scooped up by collectors for shelf queens. In my opinion, buy while you can as they will be gone before you know it. Also, replacement bodies and wings will probably be scarce. For example, have you seen any six-wheeler body shells recently? Or a Wolf replacement rear wing? Availability is often different for non-racer kits.

IMO, TCS can control them: for example the Wolf could only race on original rubber and it was completely banned for the North American TCS. Remember that? TCS already enforces no-mixing rules regarding tires, wings, and body parts rules.

But in the real world, non-TCS, having these cars will really mix things up, and the aftermarket will supply stuff to make them just as fast and exotic as you like.

Marty ol' pal, looks like it's time to call our investment bankers and withdraw some money. We have McLaren, Lotus, and Ferrari bodies from the late 80's and 90's coming. They'll fit right in with my Williams I have on the shelf. I kinda hope they'll re-release some of the other stuff like the FW14 and the Footwork FA13--Footwork rear wings made the FW14 fly. I'm also imagining how all these will work on the F104W, and how to get the car to turn with all that rear grip. I'll have to see if I've got springs softer than golds.
Is it just me, or could Tamiya be re-releasing all these cars that Senna drove...to capitalize on the Senna documentary coming to theaters somewhere? Just wondering.
As for the Civic, both FMW and OSherman have driven it. They can weigh in on how it is on the FF. And I hope they will...

That does not appear to be the case...who said that?

Thumbs up Civic... FTW??!!

i will/can say... i like the way it handles better when compared to the Golf...

compared to my Alfa that i ran in Regionals?? hmmm.. still pondering that one.. i need to drive it "In Anger" to see how it stacks up..

first impressions are looking rather promising tho.. altho i will say i had to change my setup a bit.. and we know how a lot of people dont like to do that.. so.. it sucks!!! ..

...to be continued...

Default Silvercans

It looks like Tamiya will have to up the 17,500 silvercan rule to 18,500.

If you buy them and run them new you are mid 15s @ 7.2v.

If you break in the brushes with no funny business, 18-18.2 at 7.2v.

Last weekend at Omaha I spent all weekend trying to knock down many motors 1,000 rpm so not to be dqed. Those I did, avoided it for myself and others. I don't see the average racer being able to do this unless they toss their motors to Grandpa, Doc or Swifty, assuming they are at the race and have time. There were many fast cars that were DQed who were trying to work with new broken in motors. Don't see this as a positive for silvercans, just a change that needs to happen to put everybody on the same level.
