12th Annual Charity Race in Laurel, MD September 10th
Hobby Works will be holding its 12th Annual Charity Race on Sunday, Sept. 10th at the WalMart located in Laurel, Maryland. WalMart is at 3549 Russett Green E, not far from the intersection of Rt. 295 and Rt. 198. This event is all about giving something back to the community and having FUN. That’s why drivers from all over the DC/MD/VA/PA/NY area participate…not to mention that the racing skill and competition is at the highest level found anywhere.
The track measures 150 x 100 ft (that’s HUGE) and the biggest vendors in the R/C industry (Wal-Mart, Dynamite, Horizon Hobby Distributors, Hi-Tec RCD, JR Radios, Tamiya, Great Plane Distributors, Dottie’s Trophies, and more) donate prizes for the charity raffle. That means PLENTY of door prizes to give away and trophies for all classes. Last years event attracted over 150 drivers! This year’s charitable donations will be split between a charity TBA and the Laurel Regional Hospital Foundation.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! For EACH car that you're entering, e-mail us the following information: Racer Name, Class entered, 2 frequencies (or digital), Chassis type (TT01, TC-4, etc.). Do this for each car! Email all entry information to: [email protected]
Electric classes include Novice (like TCS TL01 Spec, with silver can motors only), Tamiya Stock (any stock motor), Super Stock (any chassis, any stock motor), Mini (silver can motors only, Tamiya TCS rules), Formula 201 (ROAR stock motors, only, Tamiya TCS rules otherwise), and Cruiser Class (TL01 Chassis, stock setup, and remember we play “TAG” in this class!). If there are enough participants, we’ll also have a drift class- no rules except must have drifting wheels or PVC caps on tires. All electric cars run rubber tires, five minute heats and mains.
The ONLY Nitro class will be 1/10th 4WD. Any tires, any kit type engines of .12, .15 or .18 size, touring bodies, 5 minute qualifiers, 10 minute mains.
Track set-up is at 8am, practice goes until 9:30 am followed by 2 Rounds of qualifying, then the mains. Donation is $10 for the first car and $5 for each additional car.
Questions? Email [email protected] for more information. BE THERE!

Wasn't one listed on the HW site, Tom (you the KA, you the HU, you the NA!) . I was just trying to perform some community service by posting the race notice. Perhaps Casey will weigh in on the 19 turn issue, as I know several people were asking about it last month...

Thanks for the listing Doc,
the entries have been pouring in,
As it reads, you all know the place, you all know the race, And ALL proceeds go to charity, The Hospital , and the TBA, the way the TBA has been the last 5-6 years, is that guys approach me or Mike B. and bring us info on a given Charity, We check it out and determine that it is legit, and announce it on race day.
So get those rides in shape, tell your friends , and bring it to the track .

I think the F201 might be a dead class since Tamiya dropped it.... They ran 19 turn this year... Casey, when will you know if F201 is going to run?
I plan on running in the Mini class ( my Tamiya M03, 4 wheel drive mini will be ready to run ).
And the Crusier class!!!!!!!!!!!
Casey, can we use personal transponders?
Kahuna, I'm bring my generator and 2 tents, just like the Laurel TCS race.

Kahuna, Does Brett and Issac and you want to run off the generator?
I'd like to have 7 at the max just in case
Casey, is the F1 going to run?
I'd like to see F201/JR/Eagle chassis with F1/CART bodies, 19 turn, rims and tires made for the F1 ( including RIDE/etc ) stock or high speed gear set and I think thats it....
I have to run my Fibre 201 chassis.. The Tamiya one got shattered at the TCS race in Laurel when I hit Todd M. F201 at the end of the straight away...
