Default Looking for memories from folks who ran TRF 415/416/417 BITD

I recently picked up a TRF416 which has what I suspect is an aftermarket spool but can't find any info on it after all these years...

It is the standard factory Tamiya one-way carrier and bearing, however the Tamiya drive joints have been replaced with slightly longer units which key into one another to form a solid 'axle' and the housing has been drilled for two set screws which lock the housing onto it making it all one solid unit. The threading was cut into the housing after it was anodized, unlike OG Tamiya parts which were machined and threaded prior to anno, leading me to believe it was either being done by a small shop who purchased Tamiya one-ways and modified them, or that the end user was expected to drill and tap their existing piece. It's a very simple and elegant solution, albeit heavier than the Tamiya spool which eventually became available.

Not Earth-shatteringly important of course, I was just curious if this jumped out at anyone.
