Default Couple Questions

Hello everyone
New here from East Texas (Longview). I am thinking of getting back into RC on road racing. I have an RC12 road car and need some help getting the car setup with the newest and competitive ESC, motor, transmitter, batteries and charger.

Also, is there a 1/12 on-road racing series / track in the East Texas area?

Thanks

The RC12 was made for 4 cell nickel batteries. Today 12th scale runs a 1S lipo. It will be extremely difficult to get that car to work.

First find a place that races 1/12. They're hard to come by. Then check them out and see what everyone's running. 1/12 technology is much different than you remember

If you can find a carpet onroad track, the easiest recipe is:
Crc ck12 car with spool axle.
17.5 motor
Tekin 1s Esc
Proteck 1s lipo
13.5 motor
Sanwa Srg servo.
Sanwa radio.
Crc truer.
Junsi Duo charger.
Whatever power supply your locals build.

I agree with most of that. I would also say that the Hobby Wing Stock Spec 1s with a Hobby Wing motor runs pretty well.

Also, if you are getting back into racing 1/12, the GT12 class may be appealing to you until the rust is all knocked off. Typically uses a slower motor and a GT style body. Some places also run rubber tires in GT12, so you can avoid the cost of a tire truer as well.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. My concern is in looking in my general area (Longview, Texas). There doesn't look to be any on road tracks around. I don't mind driving a little but rather stay close to my area. Not looking to seriously compete, just a little fun racing here and there.

It also looks like my old RC12 is just too far outdated. Also, where can I get replacement RC12 tires? I have and want to keep my aluminum rims, just need new tires. Thoughts?
