Default Pit table essentials

What’s that one item you just can’t go through a race day without having?

For me it’s my portable duster/blower since we don’t have a reliable compressor at our track and a fan beneath my table during the summer.

I assume we're ignoring the obvious essentials like a charger or tyre warmers or basic tools? I don't need much other than that.

I did use a search tool, and found all of those mostly decade plus old threads and thought to myself “times have changed and tools and gadgets have too”

So maybe there’s a 3D printed tool or gadget someone is using that just makes their race day that much better, why not.

The basic tool selection has never changed. And it helps to tell what you drive because there are huge differences of needed tools between gas and electric racing.

As mentioned in my footnote "The quality of an answer comes with the quality of the question."

And gadgets.... do they count as basic needed tools?

This thread isn't asking about the basic stuff, it's asking what else you find essential. What I see in the pits has changed quite a lot over the last 5 years at my track. One notable change is lots of 3D printed stands to organise everything, and then there's adjustable feet with a spirit level for setup boards since our benches aren't very flat.

If you're literally interested in just the basic stuff, my most essential pit item is my charger. I can technically get through a race day without anything except that.

There is no "one" item you can not miss to come through the day, there are more.

As a gas driver I always setup:
- Lighted pitboard
- charger (gas racing still requires batteries to be charged and mine has also an MP3 player inside)
- engine heater
- basic screwdrivers (long flat head for the carburator, hex 1.5 to 3mm, hex 5mm and plug)
- clutch adjustment tool

Because these are the tools I continuous need

I recently bought some 3d printed tool and set up station stands. They have come in very handy and keeping the table organized and things in there place.

I'm new here, but something I found out very quick to be worth it's weight in gold is just a small and simple fan. Being able to have my own airflow (I'm fat and get hot easy) makes me more comfortable in the pit, which is obviously important.
