What's Happened to ROAR Racing?
#1

It's been more than a decade since I last raced on a regular basis. I decided to do a little racing again this spring / summer and sent off my ROAR membership application by mail last month on 3/11. It's been over a month and I still haven't received my membership. It took several emails to [email protected] before my membership check was finally cashed on 4/8. It's been over three weeks since my check was cashed and email inquires about my membership are now being ignored. What's going on at ROAR? I know ROAR is a non-profit organization, but still, is there any one working for ROAR?

I had a similar issue a few months ago, and I spoke w someone at an event who said they didnt get their card either. Strange things are afoot...

ROAR got bogged down due to medical issues. Motor inspections and general administration fell way behind. I have temporarily been helping out with inspections for about 10 months (and new approvals are now showing up regularly on the ROAR website). Administrative duties were only recently assumed (perhaps on a temporary basis), so hopefully members will soon see some response on items like membership cards.
The new president has been instrumental at getting things rolling again. I know Chuck personally, and I can say that his experience at running a huge company definitely shows: he sees what needs to be done, then he gets things done. We are very lucky to have his services!
However, if anyone out there has the time and ambition, ROAR can still use help. That has always been and will always be true. Sometimes it's a thankless job, but I believe it is also worthwhile.

Any news on when the Roar membership cards will be mailed out. A friend of mine has been waiting for a very long time.

They are getting it together, I registered a new membership & entered the e-nats in VA & just wrote "pending" in the ROAR number field, took a month or so but got my membership number

If you don't have your membership number yet just put in 7 digits like 0000000 or 8888888 and they'll figure it out. That's what the roar admin and my regional director told me to do. Its only been about 8-9 months since I paid for my membership and still haven't gotten my card or number.
I've signed up for Nats with the place holder number, so not my problem anymore. I can't wait to get my card after its expired!

All their contacts are on the ROAR website for anyone needing to contact someone directly.

Yeah, I contacted the administrator email last weekend about my renewal, which has been a few months as well. I got a response within 24 hours that they would look into it, so let’s see.
I’m actually quite impressed to have gotten a response that very weekend (late Sunday night, no less) - I wasn’t expecting any until at least Monday. So anyway, here’s hoping I get my updated card soon.

UPDATE: Well, it took just shy of 2 1/2 months, but I got my ROAR card. After reading that article, I can now see the dilemma if many things are still being handled with an actual paper trail... but anyway, from the interview it looks like the President is aiming to try and get some change up in there. GL!
