Default Project Sakura D4 RWD Drift looking for some Tips, Tricks, and a few answers

Picked up a Sakura D4 Black Edition kit, waiting on electronics to arrive, in mean time I'm building the chassis and getting things ready.

Looking for any advice tips n anything that can help.

I've never drifted RC but I've built a bunch of Basher and Speed Trucks..

I'll be posting up some pics and questions n stuff as I go, thanks in advance for any help curiosity or encouragement

Hey there. I'm no drifter either but I have I think the first generation of the D4 RWD. The big difference I see is the mono shock and improvements of the front end parts. I have changed a few of the parts to aluminum to firm up the steering and to allow it to have more steering. Most in my area are Yokomo fans but always help me out a lot. Keep up the updates and post some pics.

Moved to racing forum..

No drift section?

Have y'all seen what's going on in Drift?

It's weird even like Tower Hobbies n lots of big sites have zero drift stuff aside from garbage like HPI sprint 2 drift bs

Some people are missing out

I tried the D4 last winter. I’d been running 50/50 and Countersteer for few years. Could never get RWD to work. Just didn’t have the right surface. Tried few different sets of tires but nothing worked.

Drift is still a very limited market. Most that try don’t stay due to a number of reasons.

BK, did you try with a gyro? RWD pretty much needs it. Our guys here pretty much 99% are RWD.
Rac3rX, your build is coming along! I'll post a pic of my car tonight.

Yes. I tried at first to not use a gyro. Figured out itís all but impossible without. Tried 2 different gyros. Neither made a difference.
I knew another that tried with the MST. Had same problems. Just donít have surface to make RWD drift usable.

Yup RWD is definitely a different animal and definitely likes a smoother surface. The guys here tried without a gyro in the beginning too with same results as you...doesn't work. Type and placement makes a difference. Heli ones don't seem to work. I'm no drifter but got one to try.

Ohhh that's Sick

I'm waiting on the guts, going to post office ATM to see what's up shipment taking long.

I don't have a indipendant gyro just yet, but plan to run one. I have AVC in my DX4Rpro Receiver and a RX to go with it. If it's not good enough I'll grab a gyro.

The 180 is very popular. I'm still trying to figure out what body I want.

Your front end is different and probably better. The pieces I put on were to mostly reduce slop in the steering and increase the throw. And the motor mount is pretty much it. Oh and the pulley. I try to be practical versus blingy.
