Thumbs down This Forum is GARBAGE on iOS

This forum is garbage on iOS (my iPhone). On almost every page that I viewed early today on my phone I'd get a popup and the App Store would open...

If this were really an RCT issue, there would be 100 people just like you posting the same thing..But they're not. What does that tell you?

Sorry but these threads from a handful of users gets old. I use my phone to log in daily, and almost never have an issue. Certainly nothing that warrants complaining about.

I'm not saying YOU'RE not having an issue, but it's most likely YOUR issue.

The issue is intermittent... but it happens... I've seen other people complain about this issue too.

Because the countless people complaining about the intrusive advertising for years have all been wrong...

Advertisements are dependent on the tracking information RCT collects too. No one sees the exact same advertisements.

It's an easy issue to fix, and not an issue on other IB websites...

If you know how to use the technology you have, then it doesn't happen. Just like your computer, there are ad blockers for your phone.

Wow, that escalated quickly... Let's keep this thread civil please. Learn to handle constructive criticism...

Like I stated earlier this problem is intermittent. The problem made the forum unusable (garbage) the day I started this thread. It didn't happen yesterday. If it happened on any other web site I would not visit the site again.

I do suspect it's in the advertisements. I occasionally run an ad blocker on iOS. I wasn't running an ad blocker the day of the issue.

If it happens again I'll get a screenshot and name of the app that was opened in the App Store. The problem also occurred on Chrome for iOS.

Seriously???

There is a whole thread dedicated to this.

http://www.rctech.net/forum/r-c-tech...e-browser.html

Just because it's not happening to you, doesnt mean it's the other users fault.. I get them every couple of days on my phone. And it's nothing I'm doing on my end. Rctech is the only site this happens on for me.

Here's my point. We haven't had massive amounts of people posting or contacting the staff saying that they're having issues. That tells me that it's not DIRECTLY an RCT issue that's wide spread to the majority of users. Could it be an issue that indirectly is affecting certain people based on their browser history which then gets them targeted for a certain Ad that's causing issues?...I don't know. Is that RCT's fault? Yes and No, IMO. IIRC, IB sells certain Ad space that allows companies to target you for ads based on your history. Gotta love the web, if by chance you're unlucky enough to get hit with a malicious Ad the best advice I can give is to screen shot it and post in the Site forum. I agree that it sucks to have screen shot and post to get the issue fixed, but it's the best advice I can give.

Just because this is an RC related forum don't make assumption that some people using the site have a suspect browsing history...

As I stated earlier, this happened on both Safari for iOS and Chrome for iOS (which I rarely use on iOS). Two different browser histories...

I'll make sure to grab that screenshot in "private" mode next time it happens.

I in no way meant "suspect". It could be something as simple as you looking at buying a new car and searching dealership sites, or new cookware for the wife. Certain advertisers can/will put pop up, auto play, or redirect "spam" into just about any Ad. If your innocent search history is targeted by that Ad, you get hit.

I'm not an IT guy, this is all based on what I've seen, heard, and been advised by my magic 8 ball....which is rarely wrong

I'm just trying to say that there's a number of factors as to why only a small percentage of our members are reporting issues. To a point it is IB's fault because they sell the Ad space. But they do make an effort to remove the malicious Ads as long as they're made aware of them (screen shot).

I got hit awhile back with the Play Store redirect like many others did. For me, I would get 1-2 redirects during a session and then it would stop for the remainder of the time I was online with my phone. That's the worst I've had and I run nothing but a simple pop up blocker on my phone, no full on Ad block software.
