Thumbs down Site logs users out way too often

its very annoying to have to keep logging in ten times a day (as if naviagting through 3 screens just to check a pm isnt bad enough). even when i leave the computer open on the page and come back only after 15 mins or so i have to go through the whole process again and i dont particularly wish to tick the box to remember any passwords on this machine. surely once every few hours or even once a day should be an appropriate timeout. would be great to maybe add a box to tick "keep me signed in" as other sites do rather than the remember me option. theres no secret info or bank details being stored on peoples accounts to warrant such high security here is there? even ebay keeps me logged in longer than here lol.

Sounds like it might be something with your browser possibly?

Cookie restrictions caused by a high level security in the browser, anti virus software or maybe an add blocker?

Then that's your personal choice and you have to deal with the site logging you out.

Complaining about an issue like this from a member with 4 posts before this thread falls on deaf ears, IMO.

Default ladies and gentlemen may i have your attention please

i may only have a few posts here but that doesnt make my point less valid i dont think. i have spent most of my time reading on rc tech rather than posting and this isnt my regular forum so please do excuse me for finding the site frustrating to use and wanting to add input to help make it better. i found this section designated for suggestions and COMPLAINTS and got some constructive help so far (thanks to those other guys above) but sorry if i dont have time to sit around all day working up 13k posts to be heard

So you leave the computer for X amount of time but you're afraid to check the remember me option?

well "remember me" and "keep me signed in" are not the same functions really but i appreciate you trying to help. i dont store passwords locally for ANY website so i will simply limp along with it. i just think the server timeout is too short. thanks guys and cheers for now.

I click remember me when logging in and haven't had to re-login in quite a while.

yeah i know matt and if you read the original complaint you can see why that option doesnt work for me. i just wish to put in the password manually and not be logged out after only a few minutes of being idle rather than making sign-in an automatic and permanent thing. the only website that logs out so fast that i can think of is paypal and for good reason but surely i could spend a few hours here without having to re-enter a password more than once thats all im saying

This I 100% agree with. It can be very annoying for those who like to use the "view first unread post" feature. And clicking "remember me" doesn't change it.
