Default Novak XBR Problem

I have had a problem with my Novak 13.5 SS system XBR speed control. It acts like the battery is dead after a short run time, and losses it's programming. It will stop, and go, and finally quit, but after reprogramming it, it will do the same thing again. I have sent it back to Novak, and they are replacing it.
The issue is now a frind of mine just put a system like mine (13.5 SS XBR) in his car, and he is having the exact problem. Now I think it may be some sort of set up issue rather than a problem with the esc. He had this problem yesterday the first time that he used his.
We both are adults, and have raced for years, we are using them for oval track sportsman breakout racing where I am only using about 55% throttle, I think his is close to that also.
I have posted this same question on hobbytalk but with no replies.
Anybody had the same problem, or any idea's.
Thanks

are you running a lipo ?
it sounds like you might have turned on the lipo cut-off in the speedo and you are shuting down because of that

i have the same system and i have had no issues at all.....
Im amazed at how whether i use matched packs or some cheapo stick packs it still works w no cogging or hesitation. I have it in a AE FT T4 truck......
the performance from the 13.5 is just awesome....

I think I saw on HobbyTalk that this was an issue of having the ESC set in LIPO mode...

Hopefully all is working fine now
