I would complete any windows updates to IE and then default all the settings in IE, try it then. If it works then place all your IE settings to the way that you would like and then try to see if it works. Also, you may have picked up some sort of ADWARE or SPYWARE that is playing with your browser settings. So make sure you update your virus scan software and run some sort of adware, spyware detection software. AD-WARE by lavasoft is pretty good software and there is a free version. Hope this helps.

Not recieving notifications
Guys,
I recently stopped recieving notifications. The reason appears to be that your webserver sends the notifications from an invalid domain.
Here is the line from the MTA logfile:
2008-03-14 16:02:55 H=mx5.internetbrands.com [67.201.16.50] sender verify fail for <[email protected]>: The mail server could not deliver mail to [email protected]. The account or domain may not exist, they may be blacklisted, or missing the proper dns entries.
The Sysadmin informs that it is because the domain rctech2.internetbrands.com does not exist.
root@cpanel [~]# host rctech2.internetbrands.com
Host rctech2.internetbrands.com not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
He tells me you just need to configure the mail server to send from a valid domain. He also tells me it does not matter if the actual email address is invalid, just the domain part.
It is part of the spam filtering and apparently it is part of an RFC
Cheers
Kevin

Kevin is correct. There's no MX record found for:
mx5.internetbrands.com
the above is what the headers from the emails I am receiving are coming from, but the above domain doesn't resolve.
Kevin, call Internet Brands on Monday and through the phone tree go to tech support for Leisure/Travel websites.
I'm gonna guess no one from IB regularly monitor's this thread.

They do monitor this although perhaps not daily. I will bring it to their attention the next time we have a technical talk. It is probably just a small misconfiguration on the site.
You are right that most anti-spam measures will deny messages these days without a valid reverse-lookup of the originating host.

The first email - rejected is for a thread to which I receive daily updates, hence look in the config file for daily updates cron, and change to the FROM address to [email protected]
The second email not rejected is for a thread which I receive instant notification, although it gets thru, it should not read rctech.com, but rctech.net, this will either be coinfiguarble in your Forum application, or permanently in your php.ini or httpd.conf

Unfortunately I don't have access to the servers any more, but I will pass this on and see if they can get it fixed.

JuCo from Internet Brands here. I have passed this along to the tech department and they will look into it.
Thank you for all your super-sleuthing on this ...the more info I can pass along, the better.

Update
So we've looked into this issue and it looks like the subscription emails aren't making it through some recipient email filters. This may be a broader issue that could take some time to resolve...
In the meantime, you may want to use an alternate email address (change through your User Control Panel).
Again, thanks for all your help in tracking down the source of this problem!

juco....kinda weird to tell us to use a different email account so we can receive rctech emails.
Here's what I see right now:
I'm getting emails from internet brands from this machine:
mx5.internetbrands.com
Use this tool and put in "internetbrands.com"
http://www.mxtoolbox.com/
you'll see the only MX records found are:
mx3.internetbrands.com
mx4.internetbrands.com
why your machines are using mx5.internetbrands.com and why the domain's authoritative name server won't point to mx5.internetbrands, I'm not sure.
Also the IP number 172.16.250.16 which is what is sending me email is also blacklisted by some places.

Sorry my suggestion seemed kinda weird.
Didn't mean to suggest it was a user problem, we know it's an issue on our side. But switching up your email address may help you get these emails while we're working on what turns out to be a more complex issue than we thought.
Thank you for that header and all the other info. I'm passing that along and it's helping the tech guys figure it out.
