Things have really slowed down here….

Talk about a ghost town.
How about a new banner to stimulate some excitement? Purging old, unused sections?
Internet Brands is letting this one go into the dump like RC Universe. Very sad. Good mods, good staff, but everyone is so hindered.
Please take this as constructive criticism…..RC Tech deserves better.

isn't this the same as the hobby itself. Popular then not?

It has just grown stagnant and stale. The banner hasn’t changed in over 15 years and has absolutely nothing to do with RC. Simple changes make a big difference.
I am not complaining, just sad to see such a lack of concern. Look at the industry news section. Who thought that was a good idea? People log in and see the lack of new posts and they bail out.
I know nothing will change, many before me have voiced concern and displeasure. However, I think everyone should at least try to let “internet brands” know that they are not cut out for an RC forum. Let the current moderators fill them in on what is needed.

Looks is a manager thing while the content is the most important thing. When I do come here I do not see the RCTECH banner. The only anoying thing iwhen I have messages or likes and want to clik on them some advertising banner drops in.
About the content... more and more strange new users drop in with comments like "interesten", "thanks" mostly on old lost topics or drop in on the non RC section to talk about games, printers, computers etc.Not to mention those with a large list of social media links to some products/brands and try to name them in a kind of meaningfull post. And that while there is a rule about the 1st 10 meaningfull posts to get a new function to place pics.

Does this forum display differently on an android than on a desktop or laptop? Have seen some weird syntax posted of late.
This forum was originated as a racer-based site. Or at least, that is the way I see it. What I think I am seeing is a paradigm shift off the racer base to other and varied disciplines of RC. Each having its own following with the only thing in common being a radio system.
Is it a slow down of activity in one area of RC, e.g., racing? Or is it a general slow down of all RC disciplines? Be interesting to see some activity figures. Perhaps they are available on here somewhere and I'm missing them?
On a personal level, my activity has slowed considerably. I am completely lost with current generation electronics and have not made the transition well to the current 'next gen'. That leaves me unable to understand a lot of what I am reading, let alone make any meaningful contributions as a forum user. Basically, the hobby is leaving me, I'm not leaving the hobby. Ergo, my activity has slowed down.

LiveRC posts weekly numbers for racing.

Thanks, Billy. Yeah, I check in at LiveRC now and again. What I am asking about is forum activity trends and numbers. Should have been more concise in my query.

I still consider this forum mostly racing-oriented. Racers were always a minority in this hobby and with the rise of crawlers and dragsters during the last years, the percentage got even smaller. Also the Covid-Lockdowns may have lead people to buy and build more kits, but racers had less opportunity to visit tracks and/or race, so that may play a role in the reduced activity around here as well.

I think a lot got out of hobby when tracks closed last year. And haven’t gone back.
There really hasn’t been much from the brands to really get big interest. The Arrma 1/8 race roller and the Xray X4 are the only new vehicles that come to mind recently. Both had activity, the Arrma thread is slowing as most of the states head to winter. The X4 thread seems active. But nobody has the car yet( found out my hobby shop has 7 of them coming. 2 already sold)

Keep in mind that about a year ago Xray did remove their own forums and did set up facebook groups for every car they have. Arrma also know facebook groups.
Forums are getting out of the picture due Facebook groups. Actually weird because Facebook groups have a bad listing and a more worst search. On the other hand looking on these forums today it seems normal not to use a search but directly dump a question.

Hi guys,
Obviously, we want the forums to continue to be a vibrant, active community. Now, the good news is that traffic is actually up, as are registrations. Besides Industry News and a new banner, what sort of things would you want to see on the site to boost engagement?

Along with the industry news, the testing forum seems to be something that is not needed. If I am trying to do something new, I just use the preview function before posting. RC universe got way too big with way too many forums and sub-forums. Part of the appeal of RC Tech has always been that it was kept pretty simple.
