I want to apologize to Admin for assuming they didn't care and insinuating they were letting this happen unchecked. My bad.

The problem with creating a new thread and leaving the old thread in the garbage is, all the information in the old thread is no longer searchable. It might have been an off-topic thread, but that doesn't mean we were just BSing constantly. Lots of topics including RC were discussed at various points throughout. If you don't want the old thread getting any larger, then lock it and end the thread with a link to the new one. I've seen several other forums do the same thing, locking and replacing long-running threads every January 1st or something like that. That way people who use the forum search function will still be able to find whatever bits of useful info exist therein. Leaving the old thread in the garbage wastes all the time and energy that went into it.

And, maybe tell the moderator of the Chat Lounge forum to knock it off with the petty power trips. Yes, it's reasonable for the moderator to edit or delete specific posts, and/or ban people if necessary when things get out of hand, but that's not what happened in this case. Deleting the thread entirely was spiteful. We're supposed to act like adults but they can rename threads to tease people and delete them without explanation? I'm not sensitive enough for changing the name of the thread to actually hurt my feelings, but the moderator's disdain was nonetheless noted.

^Good points raised.

Personally would prefer restoration of the old thread as a mini challenge to see how long we can keep it going but new one seems well under way.....

One more vote for restoring the old thread from me. Lots of good info on that one.

Is it completely out of the question to restore the thread and make it at least viewable in a closed/archived status? And again, what was the reason of the deletion? I do not wish to stir the pot, but I still feel this was handled in an awkward manner.

Unacceptable.

To say there was no relevant information in that thread is a lie. What's so difficult about moving a thread.

I don't like it either, but there's nothing we can do about it. Complaining more will just make the moderators angry and cause them to start giving people "vacations". That's how forums work, sadly; forum mods have no accountability to make them do a good job.
