New photo gallery, photo uploader and mobile enhancements coming Monday April 9, 2018

Use this thread to ask questions and report any issues with the new photo uploader and gallery tools.

Here are a few details and how-to's on uploading and viewing photos in the new galleries.

Gallery Pages (New!)

We're upgrading the gallery page to show you more photos all at once. You can now also browse by new options such as “Trending,””Recent,” “Commented,””Popular,” and your own “Albums.” This will allow you to have a custom experience with the new Gallery.

On single photo pages you will see the photo you selected, but it's more than just that; you will also be able to discover related photos, comment, see trending pictures, and also see other photos in the same album.

Uploading photos to your Gallery Page

On the page with your albums and where you upload images, you can upload your photos in many ways:

1. Drag and drop photos directly onto the page
2. Upload your photo with a URL
3. Attach photos from your device

Photo Uploader (New!)

With the new uploader you can now upload your photos in more ways:

1. Drag and drop your photo (New!)
2. Select photos already uploaded to an album in the new gallery (New!)
3. Upload your photos with a URL (same as before)
4. Attach photos from your device (same as before)

Uploading from your mobile phone (New!)

You can now use your phone's camera to upload a photo immediately after it's taken.

Arranging your photos

Once your photos are uploaded, you will be able to drag them around to rearrange them in the album, tag, and delete your photos. You can also "lock" your photos, which will prevent them from showing up in the public RCT gallery. If you want more RCT members to be able to enjoy your photos, leave them unlocked.

Once the attachment process is completed, select the paperclip icon to show a dropdown menu with the option to paste your photos in-line within your post, making the user experience more efficient in adding and managing your photos from all device types.

THE NEW MOBILE SKIN

In the NEW mobile skin, we have made it easier for you to navigate on RCT Forums! For example, on the main forum page you will be able to expand and collapse forum headings to access subforums within (with out loading another page like before).

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...4543da9a5c.png

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...acdb1086cf.png

We’ve also made some improvements to the sub-forum pages where you can start browsing different threads in a much cleaner lay out with segmented color coded sections.

These changes are designed to be small, incremental improvements to make it easier to differentiate different types of forum text content, and make browsing easier on your mobile device.

You will also see, the first time you visit RCTech after the update, a tutorial leading you through the new features; this should only appear once. If it shows for you after the first time through (and you're sure your browser is accepting and keeping RCT cookies), let us know.

Lastly, the "ask a question" widget" will appear for users who are not logged in -- this is a way to attract more "looky-loos" to sign up for the forums and become a part fo the community. Welcome them, if you see their threads!

Please let us know if you have any issues or concerns.

New layout

just putting it out there that I find the new fonts/ contrast (or whatever it’s called) is really hard to look at on my device in terms of I find it hard to read it as it’s to harsh to my eyes. Maybe not such a white background would be easier?

Much preferrd the older “soft” style if that makes sense

new features though are nice.

Thank you

Noticed the improvement on my iPhone immediately. Have not tried other than default skin for now, but so far so good

Omg this site layout went to crap. Seems like the owners are trying to lower traffic on purpose.

If you have an issue, be as specific as possible in reporting it; it's very easy to post a screen shot now, if you need to do that to show what you mean. Also, what device is it you're using? What browser? Are you using the mobile optimized skin?

In Edge/IE I am getting that tutorial every time I view a forum post and I haven't been able to see images on any post I've looked at so far (they just load black). Other than that, looks great (if a little ultra high contrast).

I think it is the new blue at the top of the posts that is too harsh compared to the old blue. Definitely hard to look at for very long. Using a PC, Google Chrome.
I tried Microsoft Edge browser and it is a little more tolerable.

Was there really that much demand for the gallery to change the whole site. It’s an absolute pain now.

hate to say it, I am really not liking this new look. Scrolling on a For Sale section that takes me to other "related" sales seems to scroll too fast and then I lose track of where i am at.

Thanks for the info about the pop-up, I've opened a ticket up with tech.

We will fix the tutorial.

Can you link me to a post with the image issue you're seeing?

If you really want to, you can turn off infinite scroll in your preferences.

Whooo. What the heck happened? All the fluidity has left and been replaced by resource robbing ads.
