The last set of Gens Ace 5000 40C's that I got puffed right away. I've seen at least one other local racer who had a similar problem, in fact his bought the farm completely. I did have great success with a Gens Ace 5300 65C that I have been running in my SC10. I'll probably be looking for new batteries in the not too distant future. I was thinking about the Nanotech stuff but you guys sound rather enamored with the SMC packs. All sponsorship aside, have you felt the difference in comparable packs for both Turnigy, SMC and Gens Ace?

Absolutely SMC! I'm one of the official testers. I've seen first hand where hand matching the cells is a definite benefit that SMC batteries have going for them. This ensures you get a consistant battery without one or two cells measuring a lower internal resistance.(IR) Gens Ace and Turnigy don't hand match there cells. Matching cells is accomplished by measuring the IR between the cells and matching them together for a perfectly matched battery pack. Similar to what you used to do back in the day with nicads and nimh cells. Matched cells means more consistant IR which means longer battery life, less chances of puffing, and yes can amount to more power if the IR is lower. The power difference between battery manufacturers is hard to notice. It depends on how sensitive you are to feeling your R/C. Another benefit is SMC batteries are warranted. If you have any problems with them puffing and you didn't abuse them, talk to Danny (owner of SMC) he usually takes care of you. SMC is also an American company so Go USA!!!

Had a SMC C-MAX 5000 two-three years ago that was just junk BUT I got it used.

Ran Turnigy Nanotech 5000 (non-hard case) for a year and a half, still have one that I use as a loner.

Changed to Gen ACE after four months changed to the Non-wired type, had to rebuild a hard wired one to fix a balancer wire.

About six months ago, a racer changed battery sponsor and had his SMC's for sell. Got two from him, about a month later the Gen ACE's started charging oddly. Thought it may be one of my chargers, had a flat cell in both batteries.

I didn't notice any run diff between the Gen ACE and the SMC batteries until I changed to 17.5 "Blinky" class for a couple months. The top end was the same BUT the punch to come out of a corner or to make a jump was way better with the SMC!!!! This may be in part to the Gen ACE was 5000 40c and the SMC is 6000 60c.

I have had 2 6000mah 65c batteries for this racing season and used them for racing 3 times a week most of the spring-summer racing, offroad on sat, oval sat noc, and oval on tuesday nights, 4X4 sct, 2wd sct 17.5 and 1/10 sprint car classes and usually 2 classes per track. Only problems I have had is the bullet connectors did not carry enough currant for my 4X4 on the very large offroad track causing the negative terminal to melt through the case, fixed with the castle or duratrax solid bullet connector. I also had one of the cases splitting but just grey taped it back together. I balance charge through a sky fly equinox once a week or so but have had some issues with the balancer connecting well. I also have an SMC 5200mah 25c battery I bought 3yrs ago that still works fine in my grand daughters sct when she is able to get to the track. Not sure if I would buy the nano techs again or at least not with the bullet connectors, cannot say anything bad about the SMC

What would be true irony is if Christ came back a day before the mayan calendar scheduled the end of the world.

Please pray for the families in Newport CT!

Guns, knifes, bats, chains, ropes and other thing just lay there until they are picked up and used. Used for good or bad is up to the person who picked them up!

The Bible clearly states that there is bad in the world, we are not to be a part of that!

Yes, pray for the families in Newport CT! ALL the families, the killer's family are victims also!

Luke 2:1-19 (NET)

1 Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus to register all the empire for taxes.

2 This was the first registration, taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.

3 Everyone went to his own town to be registered.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David.

5 He went to be registered with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him, and who was expecting a child.

6 While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child.

7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

8 Now there were shepherds nearby living out in the field, keeping guard over their flock at night.

9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were absolutely terrified.

10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! Listen carefully, for proclaim to you good news that brings great joy to all the people:

11 Today your Savior is born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord.

12 This will be a sign for you: You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a vast, heavenly army appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among people with whom he is pleased!”

15 When the angels left them and went back to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, that the Lord has made known to us.”

16 So they hurried off and located Mary and Joseph, and found the baby lying in a manger.

17 When they saw him, they related what they had been told about this child,

18 and all who heard it were astonished at what the shepherds said.

We're only down here for 7 days until the 27th. Kind of a bummer but there doesn't seem to be much off road racing over in the West Palm area for us to go and watch. Next time we drive down here I'll try to bring my gear along and go racing.
