What are your favorite Christian Bands?
#1

I find out about new music by chatting with other believers.
My favorites are the the 77's www.77s.com
Undercover www.innocentmedia.com
The Echoing Green www.echocentral.com (Their music is easily available on Amazon)(Used to play their CDs as background music on race days)
Day of Fire www.dayoffire.com (Former front man of Full Devil Jacket -- Got saved in recovery. Awesome!)
the Altar Boys www.altarboys.com -- careful because there are other bands running around with the same name that aren't Christian rock.
Hope that you find some good tunes there that will encourage you during the week. God bless,
Christian Motif

Man...if I were to list them all, I would get no sleep! lol
But what's in my CD player now: Stellar Kart.
What will be in there tomorrow? I'll probably be in the mood for some Jeremy Camp or some early Switchfoot. I like Day of Fire, too...haven't listened to them in a while...maybe I'll play them tomorrow, too. lol

Stellar Kart played up here is Siskiyou County two Saturdays ago. Unfortunately I didn't get to see them. But I heard they were awesome and I do want to see them.
I am also a Switchfoot fan. When I went to Horizon School of Evangelism I had Chuck Butler as a teacher. He is a Calvary Chapel pastor and his son is Chad Butler of Switchfoot.
I also like the music of Fold Zandura. Jerome from Fold Zandura is the same Jerome in Switchfoot. www.foldzandura.com

Yeah, Stellar Kart is a good band.
I have all five of Switchfoot's CD's...from their debut in 1997 "Legend of Chin" to their newest "Nothing is Sound." I got to see them in concert last September at the Six Flags near me...it's pretty neat when I and only a handful of other people are able to sing along with their classics, and the rest of the audience is like, "Hey I didn't hear this song on The Beautiful Letdown!" lol
I decided to put some Five Iron Frenzy in my CD player today...great band...too bad they broke up.

Are you guys POD fans? I don't have their new album. Just Satelite and Fundamental Elements of Southtown and Still Paying Dues DVD. I saw them in like 92 or 93 when they played a Horizon High School. I didn't know that they were going to end up being as big as they have been.
I have probably seen over 200 Christian bands in concert. Some being:
OC Supertones, All-Star United, Stryper, Petra, Bloodgood, Undercover, Fold Zandura, Stereo Deluxx, Newsboys, Geoff Moore and the Distance, Steven Curtis Chapman, Crumbacher, The Choir, White Cross, Steve Taylor, Brian Duncan, The W's, Russ Taff, Johny Cash, The Frantics, Scarecrow and Tinman, Randy Stonehill, The Electrics, The Kry, Audio Adrenaline, DC Talk, Prodigal Sons, John Gibson, Staveacre, and more. Some of the several times. Some will laugh at some of the old names that I listed.

The Sparrows and The Nightingales -- The Echoing Green
How long have you been free
In this world of hate and greed
Is it black or is it white
Let's find another compromise
And our futures standing still
We're dancing in the spotlight
Where is the leader who leads me
I'm still waiting...
Leaving home...
And God is on your side
Dividing sparrows from the nightingales
Watching all the time
Dividing water from the burning fire... inside
Move in circles walk on lines no human being in sight
Calm the winds and calm the seas
Lets try another kind of peace
Who fights this holy civil war
A million men in uniform
Wo ist der führer der mich führt?
Ich warte immer noch...!
Leaving home...
And God is on your side
Dividing cruelty from tenderness
Watching all the time
Dividing fiction from reality
God is on your side...
And God is on your side
Dividing presence from our history
Watching all the time
Dividing deaf men from the listening ones
And God is on your side
Dividing soldiers from the fisherman
Watching all the time
Dividing warships from the ferryboats
God is on your side...
I chased all over the internet to get a translation from German to English for "Wo ist der führer der mich führt?
Ich warte immer noch...! "
It means basically the same as the lines
"Where is the leader who leads me
I'm still waiting..."
Though not necessarily Christian, (Cover of a Wolfsheim song) I have a hard time as seeing it as anything else.
"Calm the winds and calm the seas" reminds me of Jesus, and so does "Dividing soldiers from the fisherman".
Of the disciples 1/4 to 1/3 of them were fisherman. There is more said in the gospels about fishing that in any other major world religions.
With recovery, it is important to realize that God is on your side. He wants to help you. He is there for you.

Have you ever listened to the 77s? They are very talented and do a wide variety of music. Some stuff reminds me of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, others the B-52s, The Rolling Stones, 80's Alternative etc etc. One thing that it constant is awesome drumming, bluesy artsy guitar and great lyrics.
When I bought their first album I hated it. I only liked one song, and then I put the album away for a couple of months and then went back to it. I started to like it. It became my favorite album. Then their second album came out, and I hated it. It didn't sound like their first album. I put it away for a while, took it out later, and it became one of my favorites. Third album the same thing. I really hated it. But it grew on my and I think now that it is one of the best albums ever. 4th album I liked instantly.
