What is meant by hybrid? What's the difference between a non-hybrid and a hybrid?

Hybrid was used by MyLaps (formerly AMB) in describing their RC4 transponder. This replaced their RC2 or RC3 personal transponder that is larger and has the 3 mounting tabs around it. What is meant by the Hybrid? Good question, but in actuality it is smaller and is able to be used with all the new MyLaps/AMB based timing systems along with the older style as well (I think?). Hope this clarifies things.

That's a pretty good job of explaining IMHO. So, if it's still for sale, I'll buy it, but it looks like someone else got there before me.

There was no rc3 transponder... The "Hybrid", is not only smaller... it operates at a wider voltage range (both higher and lower)... it also has the ability to send back your battery voltage and temp at track/inside car... only problem is... the rc4 decoder isn't out yet to accept the "hybrid" function.

Thanks for the further clarification, the other PT was the RC2.
