No it is the seller's responsibility for using paypal services. The buyer is not responsible for the service fee. When you send a money order, the buyer isn't responsible for check cashing fees are they? Part of why paypal is free to join is cause though seller fees.

That is a little silly of an example. Most adults have a bank account, and there are no check cashing fees.

Imagine if a buyer, paying with a postal money order, demanded that the seller send them $2 for the money order, $0.45 for a stamp, and however much an envelope costs, in order for them to make payment? In the pre-Paypal days (not that you young'uns remember back before iphone's and brushless), the cost of the transaction was completely on the buyer.

Both parties benefit from Paypal (as much as everyone wants to call it the devil, I used to buy from forums where I was purchasing money orders (or if you can believe it, sending personal checks) and waiting a 1-2 weeks before what I bought even shipped...nowadays people scream if things aren't shipped within 24 hours). Seller's get guaranteed payment quickly, buyers get their payment guaranteed and delivered, as well as a form of protection if the deal goes awry.

Sellers just need to incorporate it into their cost of selling, and price their items accordingly.

I am pretty sure if they shipped it to someone else's door, you would not be very happy. Just saying...I like those little clarifications.

Hey, I'll be 26 in April....LOL
No really though I understand the analogy you are using but its again the sellers choice to use paypal. I always myself for the buyer to please include 3-5 dollars to cover fees unless they only have what my asking price is in their paypal account.

Hehe I agree, just wanted to bring a counter point to it. Previous to Paypal, buyers did pay for the convienence of getting an item sooner (certified funds vs personal checks). As a seller (the times I do sell), it is usually to get money to spend on something else, so having the money in paypal is convienent for me too.

I did buy something here recently that the person did not take paypal, and I was hesitant at first because after sending a money order, it was the same as sending cash, and I had to trust in the seller. Paypal offers that little bit of comfort.

Everything worked out fine, and that seller is an A-plus guy who sent me an absolutely amazing quality and wonderfully maintained car. There are still good people left out there!

Ok,

According to paypal it is the sellers responsibility. So why not do like every other buisness and account for it in the cost of you item. So if you item is 100.00 and the fee is 3% just ask 103.00

I mean there is not one retail company that accepts CC payment that doesn't include it in their price. It is just part of the overhead.

http://www.rctech.net/forum/2073380-post2.html

If you dont like the way people are selling.....dont buy or report it. Whats so hard to understand? Ive seen more informative threads get closed.

I think more people will do the donts now.....since you let them know what you dont like. or at least i hope they will.

Are you not trying to police the forum now with this post? You know if you do not like the thread, you dont have to read it... just saying. And a MOD made it a sticky so I guess its ok.

I think what Chillymostly is saying here is good advice to everyone on how to sell items quicker and with less problems (especially the newer or less experienced guys...and yea I've actually been on here much longer with more 100% perfect feedback than my info says). I also think that most of us even see how we could improve our own ads by avoiding some of the things people are talking about on here

Good stuff...have fun and enjoy life!!!

+1, add it to your asking price.

PayPal has become pretty much the only way to purchase and pay for items on the biggest auction site in history. I have sold and bought many things on said auction site. It is no surprise to me that as a seller PayPal and eBay put not only the cost of posting the auction but the final value fee and PayPal fee on the seller. All these sellers that are grabbing for that extra 3% are rediculous in my book. Sellers on RCTech should consider themselves lucky they only have a 3% cost for doing business here. Selling the same theoretical $100 item on eBay comes at a cost of listing fees (picture packs, buy-it-now, fancy eye catching graphics etc), final value fee if the item sells (a percentage of the sold price, which goes to eBay) and if you use PayPal (who doesn't) you get docked money there as well. If eBay/PayPal puts all that cost on the seller and many people endorse that business practice by making purchases every second of everyday I would call that the norm of online trading, bargaining and selling. Why should it be different here? No established feasible regulating force?

How about the seller you wait 8 hours for a payapl info. He gets you his paypal info and I made payment right away. You make payment and 45 minutes later he refunds and sayes someone else paid 1st. Just happen today, true story. I think it getting worst instead of better. Now I have 50 bucks sitting on hold in paypal and it will take 3 days after they release it to get my money back, to get back into my account.
