Thats fine if you dont want to waste time haggling. If thats the case then dont haggle and pay the asked price. If I list something for $150 I'd obviously like to get $150 for it. I may be persuaded to go lower. But I'd need to be persuaded or haggled with. If you are too lazy to haggle then dont bother. Why ask an inflated price in the first place? List it for what you want and be done with it. Its really not that complicated.

Wow, thread got sticky-fied ... fair enough though.

CL has a "best of"... can we get a FST version? I mean, there is like endless material to work off of (I kid, I kid). I have been wanting to throw a detailed "how to do a trade without getting ripped off like a complete sucker" post out there for sometime now. Might have to do it sometime soon.

I would, maybe you can be "Famous". Now that is been stickied, up here by the "Rules" it will probably fade into the sunset, and not get read much (just like the rules).

Someone who does not add pictures, or is putting off people with high prices, will not sell their item as quickly, or at all. They learn, or they move on.

I am just against this teddy bear society mentality that we all have to live in padded cells and safety scissors and someone has to make and enforce those rules to "protect" us.

If you want a do's and don'ts, look at the real problems with the for sale forum.

DO -

Pay for an item you want to purchase
Pay in a timely fashion
Send the item that was paid for
Send it in a timely fashion

DONT -

Misrepresent the item you are selling
Sell the same item to 6 people then skip town

I can live with paypal fees and blurry pictures, as long as the item shows up, is as described, and doesn't take 6 months to arrive...

Common sense goes a long way in this world...

I don't mind what they ask. I mind what I'm willing to pay.
Speaking of pay.... I will never pay someones Paypal fees.
Lack of effort on posting Pics is my next pet peeve!

See ya at the track!

I love this thead as so many great points have been made. Thanks for posting it.

Also big thanks to RCTech for supplying us with a great forum for selling and buying.

My favorite dont's are ... Dont ask the buyer to pay your paypal fees and dont ask for payment as gift. Seems cheezy to me.

Someone else said it first, but one thing I would like to see is a final selling price and the word "sold" edited into the first post once an item is sold. I would like to see what the final price ended up being so I know what the market should be for that item. It helps others know if they are getting a square deal and would help sellers know what similar items sold for to price thiers.

Again, great thread!!

I agree final price should be stated and I'll do that from here on out on my sales. I hate it when I see a person just buy a Mamba ESC/Motor combo for like $250 when I just paid $190 for the same thing

+1 That would be awesome. It would make it easier as a seller to be able to quickly see what the market will bear for a similar item and stop a buyer from getting hosed. I think Ebay shows the final price a item went for, I might be wrong.

The only thing I didn't read about is the seller will delete the ad and/or pictures after payment was made and before I recieved items.
In both case I emailed the seller and ask them for the for the ad and/or the pictures be emailed to me. Which they both real good about it and they did sent them to me.

Default beef with the paypal fees

paypal fees is for the buyers safety!!!

it should be on the buyer; it really does not affect the seller if he gets the money $$ + fees or just $$ as a gift....As a buyer you should know nothing is free.

This is a very good point. I'm going to do this (show the final selling price) from now on.

Love this thread.

Right on. I figured this out early on. Lots of hop ups help your car sell faster, but it doesn't do much for the price. I think a clean vehicle helps you more. It projects the image that you take care of your things and that is probably more valuable to a potential buyer.

Another one of my favorites....

...Shipped to your door.

I understand you are advertising a shipped price, but where in the hell else would you ship it?
