ttt stands for to the top, same as bump

I don't want to seem too thick here, but I still don't get it. What is the intent of To The Top and bump? I would be gratefull to have this cleared up. I simply don't know what it means. Thank you for your time.

that puts your thread at the top of the list so everyone that comes in sees it.. every time someone posts a reply to your thread it goes to the top of the list.. so if nobody post anything on your thread it goes down the list, so people type in bump, or ttt to get it back to the beggining of the list so more people see it..
