Default What's the best way to trade out of state?

Hi all,

What's the best way to trade out of state to ensure both parties don't get ripped off? What are the best methods to use?

Thanks!

if I had a good friend that lived near the person you want to trade, send them your item and let them do the deal.

other than that, dont do it

I don't think there really is a method other than reading between the lines..if it sounds to good to be true most times it is..but with all trades there is a risk IMHO

Default trades

Unfortunately it is all based on trust.I was selling a rolling chassis about a year ago. Some guy posted he wanted to make a trade for a different roller.I agreed but let him know he had to send his out first. He agreed and as soon as I got roller and checked it was ok,I sent him out mine.If your selling and the other person wants to pay with trade. To show good faith he needs to send his out first.Regardless he would have to pay first if he were to pay with paypal correct.Worked for me

Default Trade out of country

Well, I (US) traded with somebody in Canada with 0 feedback and I had 0 feedback. He sent the money through paypal in US$. I sent him the car. Everybody was happy.

However, I would be careful with people with 0 feedback. Maybe get a phone number or so. Other than that, just be careful. There are a couple people here, who claims they have good feedback on ebay. I asked them to send me a message through Ebay messaging system and they disappeared.
I have a perfect feedback history on ebay; I'd have no problem sending somebody a message through ebay's messaging system. It's easy to do.

Does the other party have feedback? If so, alot? 20+. If they do, and are posting currently, ship to them first..

Otherwise, what you could do, is ask a member of the forum, that has high feed back to be a middle man. Both of you ship to that person, once he has both parties stuff, ship it out to both (You both would have to send him money, or shipping labels..

just my 2 cents

Thanks to all who have answered. I guess it really is a crapshoot.

BTW, His trader rating is 1 (100%), so not a lot info there...

Since I would be the "buyer" and this is a trade, I'd have to send my car out first I guess? Too bad there isn't some kind of R/C trader escrow company out there

I had the person call me from the post office, got pics of the items in the box from a cell phone, had the person confirm the person in the backroung was sending me the items.

I took a pic of mine, and sent it same day.

I never had an issue.

Yeah, you probably would. Do you have feedback on ebay or elsewhere?

If you know of a hobby shop see if they would be a 3rd party in the deal make sure it's a reputible place both ship to them at the same time they would inspect both packages and then let both parties know if the deal is good or not and ship to the correct parties. That is how I did highend pb gun trades when I played pb. It's about the only 100% sure fire way to go to entitle you will not get scammed or screwed on the deal. Hope this helps.
