How to use masking tape to paint stripes?

I am about to paint a tamiya body with green stripes and I have to use masking tape. Do I put it on before or after I wash the body?

After you wash the body. By the way, what color will your body be? Generally you want to pain the car from the dark colors first to the light colors last.
