How do you guys deal with over spray. My main issue is with doing shadowing on tight corners, I am getting bad over spray, but it is so thin I can't see it until I spray the backing color. Exp black shadowing backed by white, looks awful. I was only spraying at 20 psi

COSMO can I ask you some questions about cutting and masking materials
Thanks Mel |
In my experience, over spray is usually caused by too much pressure. Don't be afraid of going lower. I go as low as possible while still getting the paint to atomize properly. Thinning the paint will help you go with lower psi's. It also depends on the paint you are using. With Spaz stix, i use the surface prep to keep the over spray down, and about 10 psi. With auto air, i thin the paint and go with a much lower psi than they recommend, 10-20 depending on the thickness of the paint.

Can you post a pic of what you're talking about?
The whole white area has a black tint to it. This was after cleaning the surface 3 times, unfortunately the black settled into the roughed up areas and I was unable to remove it. It did look much worse. Ignore the black shading around the outside, It did originally fade to white, but after cleaning left a hard line and I didn't want to test my luck again. I did get some feedback in the painters chat about this too. I guess they are called ghost farts. And it is caused by static. |
I m back after a couple years break. I did a few tutorials and ateo by step here sadly the pics are gone since i no longer use the website that was hosting them.

I am always amazed at some of the paint jobs people can do out there. I need a lot more practice.
