What is the best way to go about creating a "torn" look with a rattle can paint job?????

Tear some masking tape and place it in the body in the pattern you like and make sure you press the tape down on all the edges, then paint with a can but remember to dust the coats on around the tape so that the paint builds up rather than a thick coat which will just run and bleed under the tape.
