Alclad works...heard the SPAZ stix stuff is good.

Parma also has some chrome paint out now, I should have some this week to try out.

get that chrome aluminum foil that comes in sheets. press it on the area you want to chrome and cut the excess off with a xacto knife. they have it in gold as well.

foil leaf or leaf foil i think is what it is called.

What color would you back the chrome paint and would you paint it first?

ALWAYS paint chrome last. The best way for me to paint Alclad is by laying on 10 very thin layers and then wait at least 12-24 hours. Back it up with a mixture of 75% silver and 25% black and spray on ONE thin even layer

What's the reasoning for waiting 12-24 hours to back to chrome? Does is take long to dry?

Default PARMA

Dont use the Parma chrome, it looks more like a large silver flake. It is great for backing the new Fasluscent candy colors.

I never wait a day to back chrome. I wait 10 minutes, like what they say on the Alclad2.com site: Alclad is pre-thinned for airbrush use. Drying time is under 10 minutes.

But, waiting longer can't hurt I don't think unless it gets contaminated. Be sure to back with water based black or dark color. Chemical based backing distorts the chrome.

Don't really know why, i've tried 1 hour drying and it looked hack, more a gunmetal silver.. 3 hours looked a bit better, so i thought: why the hell not wait a full day? Well. I did, and it looks Super.

Default drying

if you look on there site they tell you specifically to not force the drying time and to let it sit.. why the paint looks so nice when just letting dry on it's own is because the paint molecules do attach to eachother to bond and make that great chrome look.. You do not have to wait 24 hours though.. paint thin let sit for about 40 min.. and once your all built up.. let sit again for about an hour.. and your ready to go.

You do know that is says satin chrome on the bottle, By reading that you should know that is not a mirror finish. I use the Parma stuff and love it!
