Hi Everybody!

I have a IWATA HP-CS and i just bought a Neo Cn for back up. Is there much diference between the the Iwata Neo and the Iwata HP-CR?

Yes. The Neo isn't made BY Iwata, it's made FOR Iwata.
I find it to be a very average airbrush. You can definitely tell it's buiilt to a budget and I can never get the same level of detail out of it. I ended up giving it away.

The CR, on the other hand, is one of my main work horses. I use it alot for spraying thicker paints, some metallics and pearls.

for the money, the devilbiss dagr is fantastic! i think i got mine with the airblade compressor for liek $350?
of course, i never use that compressor but still a good deal if i wanted to spray lacquers with it or somthing.
you can pull nice lines with the dagr though and it shades beautifully. im a total noob to airbrush art, but a lot of really skilled artists around here use them.
cant go wrong with an hp-r even, or eclipse.
siphon feed is actually better if you plan to be changing colors a lot on a design. you can get replacment lid tops for the bottles that just press into the airbrush. just have one with thinner in it.
gravity can be a little tedious to continuously clean between colors.

+1 I tried using a Paasche VL siphon feed airbrush for a few months, and I could not get Parma Faskolor to play nice with it. It would not draw the paint up the tube. I finally gave up on it and started using my Wife's Iwata Eclipse gravity feed and it works awesome.

Thanks to vintage_tone for this great thread that helps out noobs like me.

I found this setup on ebay and wanted to know anyone and everyone's opinion on it and if you think it would be worth buying for a noob like myself. I realize that there are better and more professional but let me know if this is a good start up kit or should I steer away. Maybe you see something I don't. I am thinking about trying my hand at airbrushing or maybe my wifes hand as she is the artistic one. I am looking at the G22 or G23 TC20 combo from TCP global. I don't want to spend a bunch of $ since I'm not sure how it is going to go but don't want to regret not spending enough either. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Also they have a package deal that included 12 bottles of createx paint. Is that paint good for lexan, if not what would be good paint.

Can't go wrong with this brush. Its very reasonably priced and is a good quality air brush. You won't regret it.

As far as the Createx paint goes there are many painters on here that use it. There's also Faskolor by Parma and AutoAir paints that are great waterbased paints for Lexan.

You will be very happy with the Master g23. I own 2 of them and that is all I use. Spend the extra and get the g23 set wth all 3 tips and you should be able to do anything.

Thank y'all for the input. I was just looking at the neo at hobby lobby. I must say I'm kinda nervous about getting one since I can't even draw a decent looking circle but it can't be any worse than my rattle can jobs.

im looking to buy a small compressor and see alot for auto tire application...are these acceptable for an airbrush without any frustrations?

What compressor specs are necessary to brushing?

I just purchased a new airbrush

IWATA HP C Plus

got it for $155 delivered.. still in packaging as an unwanted gift.. apparently
did some research and in australia these go for 250+.. from Thailand i could have got it for 160.

Hope i have done the right thing... my chinese dodgy is dead.. so i bit the bullet.

I assume my air hose will fit.. it is the 1/8" size

Any opinions?

Why does paint build up in tip and splatter paint. Any help is appreciated.

The hp-c+ has a .3mm nozzle, which is quite small so if you're using faskolor/createx paints you'll need to thin them a little more than normal. And DONT use water or any other household product to thin your paint, use the thinner made for the paint you're using. It usually has a little bit of glycerine in it to help with tip dry.

Also if your nozzle/needle arent completely clean or theyre rough it will collect paint and clog faster.
