I was at Michaels arts and crafts yesterday and I see that they have like literally 4 full isles of Acrylic paints. I did not see any brands I see mentioned on these forums, EX; Createx, Tamiya. Has anybody used these local arts and craft store brand acrylic paints for RC bodies? I looked at a few and read the directions to see how to thin them and I did not really se anything on the labels. The store employees told me that many artists just use water, while some use actual thinner or reducers. The only painting experience I have is when I use to shoot PPG automotive paint with a Binks or Devilbiss HVLP gun. This was 20 years ago and the paints were so different. I would shoot my RC car bodies with the PPG, but I think the Lexan will melt. I found Createx wicked and Tamiya with in 20 minutes from my home, but was just curious if anyone has experience with the arts and craft Acrylic paints.

Someone can correct me if I got the wrong product #, I’m sure. |
You would want to use 4030 balancing clear for opaque/solid colors, 4050 UVLS gloss clear for transparent/candy colors. 10-20% by volume seems to work pretty good. Mix them in a small cup, let it sit for ~15 min, pour into brush, and spray.
