Default mounting holes

this might sound silly, but does anyone have any tips for getting mounting holes correctly positioned? side to side i am always fine, its the for and aft that gets me every time.without fail it either sits a little to far forward or a little to far rearward.it think it is the steep angles that screw up my perception(GTP bodies).anyway i was wondering if there was a certain technique people used.

when your body is still clear set it on your chassis and with a permanant marker mark where the holes will be drilled

That is what I do, by the way if it is an HPI body going on an HPI car then the dimples [look very closely] on the body then it will be perfect.
