What is the differance between a cutter and plotter? Do any of the cutters that have been mentioned also print? If not what is a good economical vinyl cutter printer?

Can anyone explain what the "contour cutting" feature is that appears on some of the higher models?

A cutter and a plotter is the same just different names. I do not know any that were mentioned that can print. The higher end models will do both. The plotters that print and cut are expensive. What you can do is get printable vinyl and buy a plotter that will contour cut. The craft robo will do it as well as the us cutters LP's.

Contour cutting is basically printed artwork that is cut out as one pc to create a decal.

You say it won't communicate directly with Adobe Illustrator... Does that mean that there is some indirect way to use it?

You can create your file in AI, then it has to be saved as an EPS file, then uploaded into a cutting program.

You should really like it. That is the same one I got. These have endless uses. The only thing that was suggested to me was to get sign cut 2 from uscutters. I have not as of yet, but I intend to

How do you get the vinyl on your body? I already cutted it and have transfer foil ready. Then I tried to get it on the body, but it's simply impossible to get it exactly on the angles. There is always more or less space under the vinyl at sharp angles. Do you have any special method for it?

So it's now been a week since I ordered my cutter. USCutter claimed they shipped it on the 27th from Chicago via UPS Ground. Since then the tracking has said "Billing Information Received". UPS Ground is only a one day trip from Chicago to me. I've been in contact with USCutter via e-mail and phone. I've been told 3 times now that they're checking into it, and they'll get back to me, yet I've heard nothing back. I should have had this damn thing by Tuesday or Wednesday, and the way it's looking now I'll be doing good to have it by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

I've gotta say I'm anything but impressed with them right now.

I can tell you that I paid for mine from ebay on 9/8 and did not get it until 9/15. I live in TN.

Sorry to hear that. I have had nothing but good luck with them.

I tend to take a burnishing tool and rub it down as I am laying it down .I use Shurtape(cp60) for a transfer tape to put my vinyl on it is very low tack

Donno what to tell you bud....i ordered mine on Monday and got it Thursday. I wouldn't be so quick to judge teh company based on "shipping"...if it said it was shipped, then all you can do is wait for it. I made mmy $$ back with this cutter in 1 paintjob. Now everything is profit from here.
